From Osaka, I headed to Nara, a city known for its thousands of free-roaming deer. But I wanted to discover another side, far from the crowds and packed paths of the main park. So I headed out to plunge into the forest. And right there, a total change of vibe. Silent trails, tiny temples hidden among the trees, light filtering through the leaves... and still a few deer wandering freely. In the end, this was the part of Nara I loved the most: the place where you slow down, where you find yourself almost alone in the middle of nature, and where every turn holds a new discovery. So yes, you have to see the famous Nara deer, but above all, do not stop at the park. Plan for a full day.
