It is hard to visit Tokyo without walking through the upscale neighborhood of Ginza. Like many other places in the city, your eyes will be wide open, especially at night with shop windows that are more extravagant than the next. You will find all the biggest luxury brands there, but not only that... For me, the must-see stops are the twelve story Uniqlo and the rooftop of Ginza Six, with a gorgeous view of Tokyo Tower (try to go at sunset, take advantage of it while it is still not super well known!!), and do not miss an awesome bookstore in that same building either.

Visiting Nanzen-ji in Kyoto was completely blow my mind because the temple look so stunning with its dark wooden color. When you walk around and explore deeper into the area, there is this massive brick bridge with round shape that look totally unexpected for a traditional place. It give off such a unique vintage vibe and make the whole trip feel very magical!

Having arrived on the Brazilian side, I made it to the entrance of the park by hitchhiking. The park is incredible, it was so hot combined with the heavy humidity. The whole walk down to the falls gave me the chance to see brightly colored birds, including lots of toucans, I can still see them in my head.

I started with the Brazilian side of Iguaçu first. I wouldn't pick a winner for which side, Brazilian or Argentinian, is better. The place is incredible from all angles. The deafening roar of the falls is phenomenal, birds circle around the bottom of the falls where a few adventurous boats are hanging out. I loved spending my day there. Watch out for the coatis, absolute pickpockets of backpacks.

A Porteño institution, a must-visit. Choose your timing carefully because there are always people wanting to get in. Once inside, beautiful architecture from a time that passes but never changes. There is a small tribute to Borges and other illustrious former Argentine clients in the back. Above the cafe, the tango museum :)

I hadn't planned on going to Torino, but my little 4-day detour was totally worth it. It's a city that shines with its rich architecture. Longtime capital of unified Italy as well as the Kingdom of Savoy, it managed to keep moving forward thanks to the automotive industry. I loved the architecture, the food, and the super friendly people. I'd gladly go back. A great discovery.

Symbol of the city of Matsumoto, you simply can't visit without going to check it out. The black castle really has an impressive presence, and definitely go see it at dusk, what a sight ✨ I didn't do the interior tour because there's still quite a bit of waiting. If you get the chance to go in winter, they put on amazing light projections at night too!

I visited the castle as part of an adapted trip where I was a caregiver. Even though some parts are hard to access in a wheelchair for obvious reasons, the visit was really appreciated! The ramparts themselves are already grand, and bear witness to the past history of this place. The castle is nice to visit in the summer, you can access the inner courtyard and the ramparts for free.

Universal Studios Japan was such an incredible experience and easily one of my favorite highlights! Personally, I really enjoyed the theme park, but you definitely need to be prepared for massive crowds. It is absolutely worth it to buy the express pass to skip the line because waiting in the regular queue can take up to 3 hours for favorite rides like the roller coaster in Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, and of course the famous Super Nintendo World! Save your feet and your time so you can just enjoy the magic.

Escape Tokyo for the day and visit Kamakura beach! It ended up being my absolute favorite spot because you can just chill by the ocean, and there is endless cute cafes and restaurants everywhere. Plus, everyone takes pictures with that iconic train crossing because it's the famous Slam Dunk location! Such a perfect escape to avoid the crazy Tokyo crowds.

Owakudani is such a crazy place because you can see active sulfur vent everywhere with steam coming out. I try their famous black eggs that boiled in the hot spring water. People say eat one can live longer seven years, so I hope it work! The smell is little bit stinky like rotten egg, but the view make it totally worth it.

Stepping out early to Hakone Shrine was the best decision ever! I’ve always seen photos of this place, so I knew I had to visit since it’s one of Hakone’s most iconic spots. Standing right in front of the giant red torii gate rising out from Lake Ashi, the view was just so beautiful to take a photo. It almost felt peaceful for a moment before the crowds came in. Definitely make sure to come early if you want to avoid the super long line for pictures!

I chose my accommodation to be right next to this beach known as the best snorkeling spot in Malta. Yes, I saw some fish, but not as many as I had hoped. Why? The waters in this bay are exposed to rough seas and bad weather. If there is bad weather, the water stays cloudy for several days, with poor visibility, foam, and floating clumps of posidonia seagrass... I would have loved to discover these seabeds in good conditions, but I wasn't lucky enough during my short stay (5 days)

After a 10-minute boat ride, you leave Valletta for the Three Cities, and specifically Birgu. Quite similar architecture, with that limestone everywhere and a few fortifications... But the similarities stop there. The vibe is very different, and there are a lot fewer people. Take a stroll through the maze of winding streets that go up and down, with way fewer tourists and a much more residential feel than Valletta. Just as much charm, but you can actually enjoy it more. I also loved the older gentleman who comes to wave goodbye to people leaving on the boat, carrying a radio and playing music. A must-do!

Essaouira is a nice change of pace from Marrakech, a quiet town open to the Atlantic, about a three-hour drive away. Start your morning at the fishing port and its blue boats when the vessels come back, then pick your fish to have it grilled right there. The alleyways of the UNESCO-listed medina are easy to explore on foot. For sunset, head up to the Skala, along the ramparts and their old cannons. Grab a windbreaker, even in summer, because the wind blows almost all year round.

We often pass through Ouarzazate on the road between Marrakech and the desert. The city is mostly a really good stopover, known for its movie studios, and the UNESCO-listed ksar of Aït Ben Haddou is right nearby. Head there early in the morning or late in the day when the light is best, and climb up to the granary at the top of the hill for the view. From Marrakech, the road crosses the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 m, with lots of twists and turns, gorgeous views, and sometimes snow in the winter. Further along, the Skoura palm grove and the Dades Valley are also well worth a stop.

We have been guiding travelers in Merzouga since 2015, and the Erg Chebbi dunes always have the same effect. The best time is late afternoon, a camel ride to the camp, dinner, then the starry sky, far from any light. Wake up early to watch the sunrise from a dune. From Marrakech, it is about 550 km, or 9 to 10 hours of driving, so plan for at least 3 days and break up the trip in the Dades Valley. Winter nights are cold, near freezing, so bring a warm jacket. In July and August, it is very hot during the day. Keep some cash on hand, as there are no ATMs in the dunes.
