How is it awarded?
Since 2006, a national committee composed of various associations, including local tourism elected officials and mountain resort representatives, has met twice a year to review applications. Once granted, the certification must be renewed every 3 years.
In short, this certification confirms that local lodging, dining, shops, activities, and entertainment are geared toward all ages, with a specific focus on children between 3 and 12 years old. As of 2023, 120 destinations hold the Famille Plus accreditation, including 39 mountain resorts.
What are the benefits for travelers?
To earn this status, a ski resort must meet roughly one hundred specific criteria, including:
- Daycare services for children from 18 months (or younger) up to 6 years old
- Guaranteed transfers between daycare and ski school
- A snow garden for safe winter sports introduction starting at age 3
- A protected beginner area for both children and adults
- At least one sledding run for the 2-6 age group and another for 6-12 year olds
- Stroller-friendly walking paths
- Organized activities for all age groups
- Free lift tickets for children under 6
- Discounted rates on various services for children and families
