Cordoba is the second largest city in Argentina. It is located about 650km northwest of Buenos Aires. For those who love Buenos Aires, the city might seem bland, but if you look closely, you will find everything you need to be entertained and learn something. First off, the cathedral is a must. It is a gem to visit, and right next door is the Museo de la Memoria Córdoba, which chronicles the military dictatorship and the people who disappeared during that time. Since you are already at Plaza San Martin, you might as well visit the city cabildo. The whole city center is easy to explore with its many pedestrian streets.
As for the nightlife, Cordoba is the capital of Fernet Branca (admittedly Italian, but it is produced there too), and it is easy to make friends with that! There are plenty of clubs and after-hours spots in the city, even in the pizzerias! To go further, depending on how much time you have, the town of Villa Carlos Paz is just an hour away from Cordoba, with its Lago San Roque and famous aerosillas (chairlifts).
