This place got a huge spotlight thanks to the latest Count of Monte Cristo movie and its millions of viewers. The boat ride over is quick and fun (and smooth! Even if you get seasick, you should be fine). Once you are there, the view of Marseille and the Mediterranean is stunning, but the fortress itself is relatively basic. Keep in mind that it was a military fortress and then a prison, not a royal palace!

Historic city with an entire old town and an old port that have kept buildings from several centuries ago. Seafood fans like me will be in heaven with several restaurants that offer quality for a reasonable price. For excursions, I recommend the Île de Ré, which is not too far away. A real change of scenery!

I regularly saw promos for thalasso getaways on this site, without really knowing if the offers were actually worth it or not. I gave it a try, everything went great, and after checking the prices, I realized I got a good deal. So I recommend it! Heads up to anyone interested, they also have offers for Valentine's Day... It is not the best-known agency, and yet they have been around for over 20 years, and they have some really great deals for the Mediterranean basin. We booked a week in Marrakech for two, in a hotel with a pool that was perfectly decent, for less than €800 (about $865), flight included. No bad surprises during the trip.

Closed to the public for a while for renovations, this cultural space is accessible again. Go check it out, it is a real gem. Certain rooms are free to access, so there is no excuse. The architecture is majestic, the collections of books and objects are impressive, and the guides are super interesting and passionate.

It is one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world, and you will understand why once you step inside. The columns rise indefinitely toward the vaulted ceiling. It is impressive. The decor is not lacking either. A must-see!

The castle grounds contain an entire lively neighborhood that comes to life even more at the end of the year with its Christmas market. You will find crafts, a blacksmith working right before your eyes, grilled food, and trdelniks, all in a setting that has kept its medieval vibe.

I made a mistake on a reservation and I expected it to be a real struggle to get it fixed (discount price means no customer service, right?), but surprisingly, I was able to get help quickly and efficiently. It gives me a good impression of the company.

Pretty basic hotel located really right next to Futuroscope. You just have to cross a footbridge. The staff were pretty friendly. In terms of price, it is reasonable compared to the other hotels in the area. The downsides: - No AC, just a fan for the room. During a heatwave (and there will be more and more of those), that is not enough. - Breakfast is not very tasty.

Pretty convenient site for searching for a thalasso getaway, with a good amount of choice and some pretty interesting rates. I have used it 2 or 3 times so far, and I have never had any bad surprises during my stays. I will definitely keep using it.
