A relaxing, refreshing break that is easy to organize, without having to catch a flight, check your passport validity, and so on. You can treat yourself to a few days of tropical vibes right in the middle of winter.

This magnificent imperial palace offers a fascinating glimpse into the history and grandeur of Austria. The gardens are breathtaking, with their colorful flower beds and elegant fountains. The interior of the palace is just as impressive, with its sumptuous, richly decorated rooms and precious art objects. The guided tour was informative and captivating, literally transporting me back to the imperial era.

Within the immense grounds of the famous Schönbrunn Palace, there is a zoo that is worth the trip. The facilities are beautiful and perfectly maintained, with many different animals to see, ranging from the majestic lions to the adorable pandas. The animals have plenty of space to move around and feel at ease. The information provided about each species is interesting and educational. To top it all off, the zoo also offers superb views of Schönbrunn Palace, adding a touch of charm to the experience.

With all its monuments, Prague offers plenty of possible visits. You don't necessarily think about its zoo, and yet, it is a great idea for a family outing. The enclosures are so well designed and the animals seem truly happy and healthy. There is a wide variety of species to observe, some of them being rare and hard to find elsewhere. The general atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, which made my visit even more pleasant. Plus, the zoo offers many educational activities for kids, so it makes for a nice change from museums and historical monuments.

I really liked the San Diego Zoo. The enclosures are spacious and well-maintained, keeping the animals in good conditions. The diversity of species present is impressive, and the information provided is both interesting and educational. I was particularly impressed by the zoo's commitment to conservation and the preservation of wildlife. On the other hand, the large number of visitors can make the visit a bit complicated. It is better to come early to avoid the crowds.

Not particularly a fan of the Disney universe, I really enjoyed this hotel, which finds its inspiration in the history of the US and the British Empire. Breakfast was top notch with an all-you-can-eat buffet of quality dishes.

Out of the easily accessible beaches in downtown Barcelona, this is maybe my favorite: fine sand that is cleaned frequently, non-smoking (so no cigarette butts!), a little less crowded than Barceloneta, plus showers, bars, and nice restaurants.

Visited by tons of people, this landmark of Indian heritage is also a landmark for business. You are harassed by guides who are more or less official and by sellers of trinkets, and the entry fee is pretty expensive, around twenty euros (about $22). Now, it remains a very pretty monument, which successfully blends several architectural styles.

Perched high in the mountains, the sight of this archaeological site is truly spectacular. On the other hand, I was disappointed by the way visitors are treated like herds, pushed along at a pace that feels almost forced.

It is the closest hotel to the Puy du Fou, really convenient. The rooms are comfortable, well soundproofed, and the staff are very welcoming and dressed like Romans. It adds a nice touch of originality. The breakfasts are perfectly fine. One thing that could be better: more storage in the bathroom, and larger windows for more light.

The museum in the photos has traveled the world thanks to its such special architecture. Indeed, it is one of the most surprising and impressive buildings to see in Bilbao. No doubt about that. However, inside, I was quite disappointed by the permanent exhibition. It did not live up to the expectations created by the fame of the building.

Great museum in a building with a deceptively basic look that traces the history of European art over the centuries, organized by era. Middle Ages, Romanticism, Impressionism, contemporary, etc., it is quite comprehensive. Heads up, some of the explanations written in German are not translated. Quick tip: admission is free on Wednesdays.

Right on the Italian border, at the foot of the Alps, and on the shores of Lake Lugano, the city of the same name really enjoys an exceptional setting and beautiful weather in the summer. In the spring, the colors of nature are just magical. Small downside: the prices for accommodations and going out are high.

Right in the center of Nancy, this pedestrian square is surrounded by buildings in a classic style, gardens with wrought iron gates, and plenty of restaurants. Lively by day and by night, you will definitely walk through it if you visit Nancy.

I will start with what disappointed us a little: we arrived in Laon by train and found no public transportation to drop us off at Center Parc du Lac d'Ailette. We ended up having to take a taxi. In the end, it is probably more practical and economical to rent a cheap car to make the trip. Well, that aside, we had a good weekend with a real break from the daily grind. We loved the games in the pool and its slides (we are big kids), and the bike rides around the lake. I saw that you could go sailing on this lake, by the way. We didn't try it, but it should interest quite a few people.

Maybe the most intense and passionate crowd in the world, a crazy atmosphere. It is an experience you have to live at least once. I attended a Copa Libertadores match there, in the "platea" section, which is to say in the side stands, near the center of the field. You can go there with your family without any problem. You will be seated in an atmosphere that remains friendly and safe. The standing sections behind the goals put on shows, tifos, party, sing, and jump the whole match. A spectacle in itself.

Alpe d'Huez is a mountain resort that looks like many others in the winter. In the summer, there is something that makes it unique for cycling enthusiasts: the climb from Bourg d'Oisans, 21 switchbacks stretching over almost 14 km, with sections at 13% where it is already quite a feat just to keep moving. Made famous by the Tour de France, there is a real sense of satisfaction in completing the climb.

Nestled in a Japanese garden, with its small hills, colorful flower beds, and ponds filled with large Japanese goldfish, the Golden Pavilion is a must-see in Kyoto. I don't think I have seen a prettier garden in Japan, though it is true that I am far from having visited them all.
