Visiting Prague Zoo, a day out in nature
Located in the Troja district, Prague Zoo is a hit with locals and visitors alike. Founded in 1931, this park spans 60 hectares and houses more than 5,000 animals representing around 700 species. With its mix of green valleys and wooded hills, Prague Zoo offers an engaging, educational experience for all ages.
Exceptional biodiversity
The park stands out for its commitment to species conservation. Notable residents include Przewalski's horses, western lowland gorillas, and Siberian tigers. The zoo plays a key role in the protection and reintroduction of threatened species back into their natural habitats.
As you explore the various exhibits, you will encounter diverse environments like the Elephant Valley, the Indonesian Jungle pavilion, and the Komodo Dragon enclosure. Each zone is carefully designed to mimic natural habitats, providing a look into the lives of these animals.
Activities for the whole family
The site offers more than just animal viewing. Children enjoy the themed playgrounds and the petting zoo where they can interact with domestic animals. Daily activities, such as feeding times and educational presentations, provide deeper insight into animal behavior and conservation efforts.

I have visited many zoos in France and across Europe, but the one in Prague remains one of my favorites. For a very reasonable price, you get to enjoy an immense, lush, and perfectly maintained setting. I spent the entire day walking around and admiring animals that seemed to be in very good condition.
The Indonesian jungle, with its salamanders, the monkey island, and the big elephant valley really amazed me. Plus, the grounds are very pleasant with plenty of shady spots, places to rest, and food options. While it is easily accessible by bus, I opted for the steamboat on the Vltava, a lovely cruise that I highly recommend.
