Dinner cruise tested and approved! The food was very good, the interior decor (the boat) was very elegant and cozy, and the exterior decor (the Seine and Paris) was romantic as can be. It is a shame that it is so expensive, definitely one to save for special occasions.

Large apartments with a fully equipped kitchen, which helps save money on meals. Same thing, like Thomas said, the pool is small. Located in the town center of Saint Aignan, it is a bit far to walk to the Zoo de Beauval.

Built underground, accessible via a discreet entrance that you could easily miss if you weren't looking for it, this is a surprisingly large aquarium (considering the price per square foot in this neighborhood). Quite a few fish to see, and some spectacular tanks housing, among other things, sharks. Towards the end of the tour, there is a pool with big goldfish that you can reach out and touch. A good outing idea to do with kids.

Huge castle with a lot of rooms to visit. History buffs will be thrilled. When I was there, there was a group on the grounds re-enacting moments from French history, staging big battles with horseback acrobatics. Impressive.

Still occupied by the royal family at times, this massive castle is very much alive. It is perfectly maintained, the furniture is well preserved, the changing of the guard reminds you of some old traditions, and the staff is welcoming. Saint George's Chapel is magnificent. Definitely take the audio guide, as the castle is nearly 1,000 years old and has a lot of stories to tell. Just watch out for the price of admission, so plan for a full day to get your money's worth.

A bit disappointed by the urban planning of LA (a super sprawling city that lacks charm), the Getty Center is very different, both modern and full of elegance. Fans of contemporary art will also be thrilled by the collections you can see there.

It is hard to imagine today that this place needed to be fortified not so long ago. If I am not mistaken, it was Vauban who designed these enormous ramparts that surround the old town of Montreuil high up on the hill. Dating back to the 16th century, with the star shape common to Vauban fortresses, these ramparts allow you to see panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

I used this site to book a beachfront rental on the Costa Brava in Spain. The selection was totally solid, the info on hotel amenities was clear and complete, there were tons of photos, and last but not least, the prices were on point. Before booking, I tried comparing prices online for the hotel I picked, and I didn't find anything cheaper. Everything went well during the stay, no bad surprises. I recommend it. I am not rating the customer service because I did not have to deal with them!

You don't necessarily think about it when you head to Catalonia, but taking the train to these craggy mountains, visiting the abbey, and then hiking in the mountains is a plan that will be a radical change from the vibe in Barcelona, for example.

I agree with Bill, this little statue relieving himself is not spectacular or impressive in any way. That said, the interest of this monument lies in the legend it represents for Brussels. The statue supposedly represents a child who put out the fuse of an explosive that was going to blow up the city walls. According to other stories, it was the work of a benefactor who lifted the curse of a child condemned to urinate by a witch, by substituting him with this bronze. Did you know that the Manneken has an official wardrobe of 800 outfits, which he wears depending on the occasion? A former monastery turned ceramic factory, then a contemporary art museum for the last thirty years or so, the whole place makes for an amazing mix. Large exhibition spaces, Gothic and Moorish architecture still visible in the chapels, paintings, photos, sculptures, occasional installations, collages, and political or philosophical messages. Interesting, but not exactly a must-see.

Large sandy beach, pretty famous and therefore crowded in the summer, surrounded by rocks, small cliffs, and hills. The color mix of the light sand, the turquoise or navy blue water, and the rocky, brush-covered cliffs is splendid. There are quite a few buildings, but it is still nice to look at. Super peaceful swimming in crystal clear water that gets really warm in the summer from the southern Italian sun.
