Visiting the Bodleian Library is a unique experience. The old rooms and shelves filled with antique books are immediately impressive. I recommend the guided tour, as it lets you discover some funny anecdotes and quite a few hidden corners. Come early to avoid the crowds, and take all the time you need to see every detail of the architecture. Be careful about taking photos, there are rules... It is a magical place for book lovers or just the curious.

Visiting the University of Oxford is a real treat! The buildings are gorgeous and full of history. Take the time to wander through the colleges and the little side streets. The guided tours are very interesting and provide plenty of fun anecdotes. Plan some time to just stroll around, and if possible, avoid peak hours so you can quietly enjoy the unique atmosphere of this college town.

Herculaneum is a very interesting little ancient site. The houses and streets are well preserved. It is less crowded than Pompeii, so it is more pleasant. Wear good shoes and bring water. A guided tour helps to understand the history. Perfect for seeing the life of the ancient Romans. A very interesting walk for the family, even with young children.

Great visit to a place that is thought out differently from other museums. A bit messy maybe, but you feel good there, and at ease wandering around everywhere, stumbling upon the collections. You can run into a dinosaur and not far off a Dali painting, it is fun and pleasant with kids. You have 2 hours to kill in Glasgow and it is raining: go! And all that for free, we are in Scotland ;)

Even though I definitely prefer Edinburgh, Glasgow can be worth the trip, at least to see the city by bus and discover its impressive Victorian (and Gothic) architecture. I recommend visiting its university. A quick tip: stick to the bus or a taxi, but do not venture into Glasgow by car, as it is much more complicated to drive in than other cities.

The tour is worth it (even if soccer isn't your cup of tea). You can feel a special vibe, even just visiting, you can really sense the passion of the supporters. My advice: arrive early to enjoy the stadium and the shop. And take the time to do the guided tour, it's really worth it and makes the experience even more memorable.

This basilica is one of the four major ones in Rome, and it is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Magnificent mosaics and the sheer vastness of the place: do not miss it if you are spending a few days in Rome.

The gallery displays floats from a festival that is very well known all over Japan. It is a great chance to learn more about these traditional celebrations. Real floats, models, and overall pretty interesting.

A chance to discover the beautiful Japanese mountains. But watch out for bears... it is very stressful even though these places are magnificent. You can enjoy hot springs right nearby. The waterfall is really worth the trip, provided you talk loudly and attach a bell to your bag, which is absolutely essential in this region...

Hida no Sato is a pretty little village with thatched roofs, in the spirit of Shirakawa-go. A sort of open-air museum village, super pleasant to visit and not far from Takayama, a city you shouldn't miss either.

Very pretty bridge that reminds me of the one in Edinburgh. It is actually a very large highway between Quebec City and Levis. A beautiful steel suspension bridge, then, and especially very useful for getting around despite the frequent traffic jams.
