Surprising in more ways than one, these waterfalls stay hidden from view for a while. Suddenly they appear in a thundering roar. A true spectacle of nature, the falls put out a curtain of continuous rain. Just know that you are not alone, especially if you come in the nice weather, which is the only downside.

This protected natural site completely blew me away. Between the natural beauty (stone arches, massive beaches, cliffs) and the abundance of wildlife, I didn't know where to look first! Watching the puffins was definitely the highlight of my stop. Admiring these extraordinary birds will stick with me as one of the best moments of my trip to Iceland.

Here is the spot that blew my mind the most during my road trip in Iceland. The site is stunning, what a surprise to discover such a wonder right after the (paid) parking lot where the cars are parked... You can walk along the lake and the glacier while seals and birds watch you. The icebergs crack and move, a truly magical world! For more peace and quiet, follow the trail toward the north, open space and silence on the menu...

Another wonderful spot in Iceland! Here the national park is explored on foot, what a joy to hike across these untamed lands! You can choose to go discover waterfalls, challenging trails, or a lake where icebergs float, and if like me the weather is gray it is even more spellbinding!

I loved the vibe of this little fishing port lost in the south of Iceland... Swept by cold winds, this land is full of magic and the call of the open sea is really strong. I tried several places to eat and sleep, but definitely expect a hefty budget. Prices are crazy in this area!

A key thoroughfare in the Icelandic capital, I really enjoyed walking around here during my trip. You can find original boutiques, cool bars, and restaurants to take a nice warm break! You will also see some great examples of street art, and you will easily understand why this is the most commercial street in the city and even the country!

I am still on the fence about my overall opinion of this building. Indeed, the cathedral in the Icelandic capital is surprising with its to say the least bold size and architecture! Overlooking the city, it stands out against the Reykjavik sky. I have fond memories of the view from the top of the building.

I felt right at home immediately in this cozy, human-sized city! Its main strength is definitely its location, close to exceptional natural sites. Plus, this vibrant capital gives off a real sense of well-being. I found the locals to be friendly and open-minded, with a unique edge-of-the-world vibe. Top notch!

This place is an absolute must-see! After endless miles of bumpy dirt roads, this stop feels incredible. Here you'll find a gas station, lodging, a restaurant, a little shop, and a Bagdad Café kind of vibe! You really feel like you're in the middle of nowhere in this gorgeous Namibian desert (keep your eyes open, there are lots of animals)... Here I shared a welcome break with other travelers on this road leading to the famous orange dunes...

Sesriem is another stop on the way to the dunes and dead trees of Sossusvlei. In itself, this stop is not essential, but it is definitely welcome for getting all your supplies to keep your adventure going! Plus, nearby you have the stunning Sesriem Canyon, which is great to explore with a guide.

This camp located in the east of Etosha offers everything a visitor needs. But what I loved most of all is the huge waterhole! Here I was able to watch 2 beautiful elephants, oryx, springboks, and a bunch of other animals! Afterward, you have to keep in mind that the place also attracts other mammals, visitors like me ;)

I have such incredible memories of Halali. It is actually a tourist village in the heart of Etosha National Park. You can find a restaurant, shops, bungalows, and a campsite here. What I was most excited about is the floodlit waterhole. You sit down in front of the spectacle of nature and just admire it. For me, it was a festival with 3 rhinos, birds, and hyenas on the program!

I think Walvis Bay is well-situated for those who want to discover the majestic site of Sandwich Harbour (where the white sand dunes meet the ocean). Plus, the town has undeniable assets: a waterfront where you can watch birds, and a lagoon where fur seals and dolphins play around. For sports enthusiasts, there is the possibility of kayaking in the sheltered bay. Overall, I loved this spot!

This city is truly surprising. I loved its coolness after the heat of the desert! The fog is often here, so it never gets too hot. Swako (for those in the know) is interesting for a relaxing trip, plus the ocean and the desert are not far for your activities. However, I find that the gaps between the wealthy people and those left behind are even more visible here than in other places in Namibia...

Chobe National Park is my favorite spot in Botswana! What a thrill to cruise the trails without seeing any other cars for miles. You have to get away from the crowded areas, and then the true adventure of Africa opens up to you! I was lucky enough to see dozens of giraffes, elephants, gazelles, and even some fabulous lions! This park is worth the effort, especially if you go for an adventure-style trip!

Maun is a practical stopover for exploring northern Botswana. The advantage is that you can find everything you need there to organize your expedition to the Okavango Delta and nearby parks (accommodations, car rentals, restaurants, local agencies). On the other hand, you can feel the weight of tourism and prices are higher than elsewhere. My opinion remains positive and the surroundings are just extraordinary!

The Abruzzo National Park is famous for housing a variety of wildlife in the heart of untouched landscapes. I loved hiking on the tracks of bears and wolves! I have to admit that they are well hidden, and to maximize your chances of spotting them, it is always better to be accompanied by a local guide. Among my favorite discoveries, I was really blown away by the hikes to Lake Vivo and Val di Rose.

Genoa is a wonderful surprise, raw and rebellious, this port city is passed through much too quickly! I was completely charmed by its old town, so well hidden behind its highway barrier. You have to take the time to explore its narrow streets lined with faded palazzos (some of which are being restored). Huge favorite for Via Garibaldi and its majestic palaces.

Florence draws crowds and suffers from that appeal, it is truly a museum city (though a bit less so than Venice, still). That said, the Tuscan city definitely has undeniable perks. The timeless beauty of the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo speaks for itself. The richness of the museums and the romantic Boboli Gardens also add to the appeal of this city that leaves no one indifferent. Get away from the busy neighborhoods to find the soul of this great city.

A lovely little town sitting right on the edge of its lake, Como is well worth a stop. My favorite part was definitely the gorgeous cathedral. I took my time admiring its remarkable facade and unique dome. Another absolute must is the funicular, which treats you to a great experience and a cool way to travel with breathtaking views of the lake as a bonus.
