I lived in this city for a year and I recommend it as an expat, even if it won't give you an authentic "Canadian" experience but rather an international one, since the Asian influence is very present, just like that of the United States. That is the strength of this city, which also enjoys many green spaces, in addition to diverse nature activities (hiking, water sports...). Watch out, Vancouver is nicknamed "Raincouver," so don't forget your umbrella!

The very definition of a multicultural city. The population, the architecture, and the food all blend together and make this city so unique, at once attractive and confusing. You meet a lot (a lot!) of expats there, and you quickly get that feeling of being part of the same family. An ideal city to discover Canadian-style fun, the dry cold (!), and French-Canadian culture.

There is nothing better to disconnect and get a breath of fresh air! I loved going there to count squirrels, watch the city from above, and go for a jog! A wonderful park nestled right in the middle of the metropolis.

Strolling, skating, partying, chatting with the local creators, taking a ride on the Ferris wheel or the zip line... It is the beating heart of Montreal, certainly very touristy, but there is always a good reason to go! It is also a great starting point for visiting the city or a meeting place to catch up with friends.

This beach really doesn't live up to the hype when you look at all the 1960s apartment buildings lining it. Not to mention the constant construction and the view of the wind farms in the distance. Nevertheless, the promenade lets you walk for a long distance, and it is perfect for rollerblading or just strolling around while enjoying a good ice cream from La Fraiseraie!

In 2023, I hiked the 85 km of its coastal path and came back totally enchanted! It is an island at the end of the world, with just the right amount of wildness and points of interest. Its coast is very jagged and the landscapes differ, whether you are in the north near Sauzon or in the south near Locmaria. The Plage des Donnant, a paradise for surfers, is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, take it from a Breton!

Don't listen to what people say about Naples! It is the living and vibrant heart of Italy! An unfairly unpopular city, even though it is safe, the food is great (the famous rum babas and Neapolitan pizza!), and the nightlife is in full swing! The best part is the lack of tourists roaming the streets :) Don't miss out!

There are several types of guided tours offered for the whole family (fun, food-focused, unique, etc.), and they really let you see behind the scenes of the salt worker's trade. Remember to book ahead because they fill up fast, and definitely avoid booking during heatwaves because there is zero shade on the site! Also, don't miss the cooperative and its variety of salt-based products. A free exhibit inside covers the history of salt from its origins to today.

Guérande checks all the boxes for the kind of towns we love to discover, wander through, and revisit. It has a medieval vibe with its ramparts flanked by 6 towers and 4 gates, flowery charm, beautifully presented shops, and some very attractive restaurants and food stores. My favorite spot in Loire-Atlantique!

It is hard to find the words to describe this library. Maybe they can be found among the 4 million books it holds? In any case, it is a landmark for book lovers, especially old books, and a study space that would make any university in the world envious! It is a must-see in Dublin, but to get the most out of your visit, choose off-peak hours to enjoy the peace and the grandeur of the place. Breathtaking!

I backpacked all through southern Mexico a few years ago now, and San Cristóbal de las Casas remains undeniably one of my favorite cities. Everything you need to be amazed, learn, and have a good time is right there. It is a concentration of the most beautiful things Mexico has to offer. It is an essential stop, but be careful because it is a climb. The city is located at an altitude of over 2,000 meters and has a ton of stairs and very high sidewalks!

I went there when I was little with my parents and again recently, and the park gave me the exact same thrills! You don't need to be a history buff to enjoy the shows. It is a park on a human scale, which really shines a light on the Vendée region and all the volunteers who participate. A truly inspiring example of French craftsmanship!

I am very torn because I have been there three times and each time I had to deal with the mass of tourists and ticket scalpers that flood the site. Without a guide, the visit is clearly useless because you do not have any information on site, and with a guide, it quickly becomes complicated to get around... I preferred admiring the Colosseum at night, which is lit by a soft light that gives it back its glow. The perfect moment to stroll with your partner and take some pretty photos of the site.

All of Florence summarized in one bridge: a covered art gallery, luxury jewelry stores, a view of the Arno river... It is a distillation of art and romance and a beautiful glimpse into the fortune of wealthy 21st century Florentine families. To fully enjoy the bridge and its surroundings, go admire it from afar from the windows of the Uffizi Gallery, which offers a unique view!

Even if the city has been going downhill in terms of safety for several years, Nantes remains a very dynamic city with high potential. The attractions are diverse and geared toward everyone, from the Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne to the Machines de l'ile, and the public transportation options are ideal (tram, river shuttle, bus...) when you do not have a car, whether you are a tourist or a student. I especially love the performance venues, small cafes, and the cultural scene that lets you catch a movie, go dancing, or listen to music at prices that remain affordable!

Rub your eyes hard before you go because there is so much beauty per square foot! Patios, gardens, symmetrical patterns, decorations as delicate as lace... everything there is elegance and refinement. An oasis of calm and beauty in the center of Seville.

I was lucky enough to visit Machu Picchu twice during my trip to Peru. Three years later, I still do not have the words to describe this experience, both mystical and magical! You have to see it to believe it, and most importantly, visit it with a guide to understand its history. I recommend getting there via the Salkantay Trek (62 kilometers) for more authenticity (and the pride of not having taken the train to get there!).

I went there last December with my family and I was totally blown away! The Alhambra is typically the kind of tourist spot where you manage to feel all alone in the crowd because the beauty just captivates you. It is a visit that appeals just as much to casual strollers, history and architecture fans, as it does to nature lovers. Worthy of a fairy tale! Remember to book your ticket in advance ;)

I go to Rome at least once a year and I have watched the Trevi Fountain go downhill year after year! Beyond the crowds that ruin any chance of enjoying it properly (it is almost impossible to take a photo without someone in it...), the area around it is just very dirty. Papers littering the ground, the street is really filthy, and there are barriers that, since last year, keep you from getting close enough to the fountain to throw your coin and make your wish. A highly touristy spot that has lost a lot of its charm and romance. I would recommend the Fountain of the Four Rivers on Piazza Navona instead!

On paper, this bookstore is a must-see: opened in 1906, considered the most beautiful in Europe, and supposedly inspired J.K. Rowling for some of the Hogwarts sets. ... In reality, you end up waiting in an endless line with very strict time slots and paying €10 ($11) just to get in. Inside, only the central double-entry wooden staircase is worth the trip, since the selection of books is unfortunately very limited and really aimed at tourists (The Little Prince, Harry Potter...). There are few books and very little room to move around, but for book fans... it is hard to resist a visit! The pleasant surprise is that you get a discount on a book equal to the price of your entrance ticket!
