Kelimutu, on the island of Flores, is a volcano that is home to three crater lakes with colors changing from turquoise to black via red, depending on the minerals and geothermal activity. I have an unforgettable memory of a magnificent sunrise over the lakes in the morning chill. A unique site, far from the most frequented paths of Indonesia, that is well worth the trip for anyone exploring Flores.

Hoi An is one of the cities I loved in Vietnam. I adored its vibe, which is softer and more laid-back than Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. You can walk or bike around without rushing, among colorful facades, lanterns, tailor shops, and little stores. It also lets you enjoy the nearby beach and explore the surrounding area. I totally recommend this stop!

The fortress rock of Sigiriya towers 200 metres above the Sri Lankan jungle. The climb is dotted with ancient frescoes and the remains of a royal palace. When you reach the top, you get a 360-degree view of the surrounding countryside. A truly unique site where geology and history meet.

A sprawling and vibrant capital, Bangkok surprises with its contrasts: golden temples (Wat Arun, Wat Pho) just streets away from modern rooftops and bustling markets. The klongs (canals), the floating market, street food on every corner, it is a total immersion in Thai energy, balancing tradition and modernity.

Often called the "inland Halong Bay", Ninh Binh reveals spectacular karst landscapes set among rice paddies and winding rivers. I recommend taking a small boat ride in Tam Coc or Trang An, gliding through natural caves to take in the scenery.

A city where you take the time to slow down, between golden temples, colonial houses, and the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. I also recommend exploring the surrounding area and checking out the night market to sample Lao dishes.

Angkor is much more than the famous Angkor Wat temple. It is one of the largest archaeological sites in the world. A collection of temples tucked away in the heart of the jungle, steeped in history and with a totally unique atmosphere. Angkor Wat at sunrise is a classic, but Ta Prohm (with the tree roots) and the Bayon (the giant faces) are just as striking. Siem Reap, right nearby, is a great base for combining sightseeing with local life, thanks to its markets and Khmer food.

A destination that exceeds expectations despite all the photos you have already seen of it. Perched at over 2400 metres, the Incan citadel emerges from the landscape, encircled by peaks often draped in mist in the early morning.The arrival remains a highlight, on foot via treks or by train from the Sacred Valley. Agricultural terraces, temples, still-legible layout of the city: a place steeped in history.An early morning visit, before the influx of tour groups, lets you enjoy the site in a much calmer atmosphere and fully appreciate the magic of the place.

Sapa is a world of its own on a trip to Vietnam. Perched in the northern mountains, the town overlooks endless terraced rice fields, often wrapped in mist early in the morning. People come for the landscapes, but you leave truly marked by the encounters: the local ethnic minorities (Hmong, Red Dao...) who bring the region to life and gladly share a piece of the trail during treks. The vibe changes with the altitude and the season, sometimes chilly, sometimes almost timeless. It is a stop that I sincerely recommend to get away from the pace of the big cities and take in the slow side of Vietnam
