Walk to Baixa Pombalina, Rossio, and Chiado from this well-maintained city hotel in the heart of Lisbon.
Rua Áurea, in the heart of the Baixa pombalina (Pombaline Lower Town), is one of the most animated arteries in Lisbon. My Story Hotel Ouro sits right in the thick of it with a clear premise: a polished city hotel, just steps from Rossio and Chiado, designed for travelers who plan to see everything on foot. The vibe is urban and contemporary, without the pretense of a grand palace.
The location
It is difficult to find a better spot for exploring Lisbon without relying on public transit. Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square) is a few minutes away on foot, and so is the Mercado da Ribeira (Riverside Market). Major tram and metro lines are easily accessible. The trade-off is that the Baixa district can be noisy, especially in the evening and during peak season. Rooms facing the street may catch the echo of the crowds.
Rooms and comfort
The rooms feature a sober contemporary style, using light materials and decor that references Lisbon history without overdoing it. The floor space is adequate for a city-center hotel, though entry-level categories remain compact. The bedding is consistently well-regarded by travelers, and the air conditioning performs reliably, which is a necessity for a Lisbon summer.
Services and perks
The hotel offers breakfast served on-site, concierge services, and a reception desk ready to assist with late arrivals. Guests frequently mention the staff for their helpfulness. There is no spa or pool, but that is not the goal of this establishment, and the price reflects its honest positioning as a well-maintained solid city hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for our first anniversary and we found the price a bit steep compared to the quality of the room.
The room itself was very nice, good mattress, nice shower, but we ended up with a view of a wall, and no special touches like a little chocolate on the pillow when we arrived. So, a bit of a letdown in that regard.
That said, the pluses of the hotel are clearly its location and the help provided by the hotel staff.
We received excellent advice from several people at the front desk about places to visit, restaurants to try, and other little tips day by day.
