#1 Serre Chevalier (La Salle-les-Alpes)
Serre Chevalier, a premier destination in the Southern Alps, features over 250 km of trails for all skill levels, a snowpark, and freeride zones. Beyond skiing, enjoy snowshoeing, dog sledding, or the thermal baths in Monêtier-les-Bains. Summer turns the area into a hub for mountain biking and hiking. With hotels and private chalets, La Salle-les-Alpes has options for every traveler.
What a setting. Surrounded by mountains, I really liked this town. Actually, what really stood out to me was the layout of the upper town. Enclosed by ramparts, I enjoyed being able to easily discover the main sights. You have a choice between the collegiate church, the Maison du Parc des Ecrins, and the Grand-Rue shopping street. Plus, in Briançon, you can take a cable car that leads you straight up into the mountains, which is top notch!
