Highest city in Europe

What a setting. Surrounded by mountains, I really liked this town. Actually, what really stood out to me was the layout of the upper town. Enclosed by ramparts, I enjoyed being able to easily discover the main sights. You have a choice between the collegiate church, the Maison du Parc des Ecrins, and the Grand-Rue shopping street. Plus, in Briançon, you can take a cable car that leads you straight up into the mountains, which is top notch!

Picturesque as can be

The old town, partially surrounded by old ramparts, is very pleasant to visit. Located right in the mountains, this place is easy to get to. Once you are there, you can do everything on foot, including shops, restaurants, and cultural visits. In the winter, you have skiing of course, and in the summer, some really beautiful hikes.
