Where to stay in Ibiza: the best neighbourhoods (2026)

There is not one Ibiza but several, and the whole stay hinges on choosing yours. The island blends the whitewashed maze of Dalt Vila above the port, the thunder of the beach clubs at Playa d'en Bossa, the family gentleness of Santa Eulària, the sunset ritual of Sant Antoni and the hippie coves of the pine-clad north. Where you drop your bags decides which Ibiza you will live, and whether your nights are techno or cicada song.

The island is dear in summer: a pleasant room costs 120 to 300 EUR in high season, far more in the luxury resorts, and drops to 70-140 EUR off-season or in a guesthouse, camping and hostels less still. This guide compares five zones, ranked by the appreciation of Avygeo members. A car or scooter helps greatly to move from cove to cove, but buses link the resorts and the airport, south of town.

Our tips for booking the right place

  • Car or scooter, and the buses in summer : Ibiza is lived by car or scooter to move freely from cove to cove; book the vehicle well ahead, it grows scarce and dear in summer. Frequent buses link the airport, the town, Sant Antoni and Santa Eulària, and the Discobus serves the big clubs at night. Without a vehicle, better stay in town or at Sant Antoni, the best served.
  • May-June and September, the best balance : July and August pack in the crowds, the party and peak prices, to book months ahead. May, June and September offer a warm sea, clubs already open and a gentler crowd, at far better prices. Off-season, the island turns peaceful and rural, but many clubs and hotels close; it is the time for hikes and deserted coves.
  • The secret coves, the hippie markets and Formentera : Beyond the great beaches, seek the more confidential calas, Cala Salada, Cala Mastella or Aigües Blanques, and climb the Es Vedrà lookout at sunset. The hippie markets of Las Dalias and Punta Arabí keep the island's spirit alive, and a ferry reaches Formentera and its turquoise waters in half an hour, the day trip not to miss.
Where not to stay in Ibiza (honestly)
  • Booking at Playa d'en Bossa or in Sant Antoni bay for light sleepers or families: the party echoes until dawn in season; aim for Santa Eulària, the north or a room up high and in the calm.
  • Counting on doing everything without a vehicle while staying in the north or near an isolated cove: shops and buses are rare there; without a car, better the town or Sant Antoni, linked to everything by transport.
  • Underestimating the prices and crowds of July-August: hotels, restaurants and clubs peak and sell out; book very early or aim for May, June and September, far more affordable and pleasant.
