Visiting Cala d'Hort Beach

You know the drill with beaches in Ibiza. They range from urban hotspots and family-friendly stretches to vast expanses and surf-dedicated shores. In this mix, Cala d'Hort Beach stands out by betting everything on its view. While calling it the greatest is subjective, it is undeniably one of the most aesthetic spots on the island. Located on the southwest coast, just a few miles from San José, it feels like stepping directly into a postcard. It is a favorite spot for photographers looking to capture sunsets in a setting where nature clearly takes center stage.

Two magical islets for an incredible view

Some places simply have it all, and Cala d'Hort Beach is one of them. This 200-meter cove is a pocket where fine white sand meets a rockier area. Bordered by clear, transparent water, the shoreline is hard to resist. Rising out of the blue, turquoise-tinted sea are two giants that look like they were carved by hand, the islets of Es Vedrá and Es Vedranell. The former is truly spectacular. A massive rock formation reaching 385 m in height, it cuts into the sky and has been the subject of local lore for generations. Some attribute energetic properties to it, while others lean toward the supernatural. Its raw presence is the only certainty. Just 250 m away, its neighbor stands at 117 m. Both islets reportedly served as landmarks for pirates in the past and are now protected as part of the Parc naturel d'Es Vedrá (Es Vedrá Natural Park). Local legend says birds lose their sense of direction when flying over them, but humans usually just lose their words because the site is so visually arresting. It is a perfect spot for diving and hours of quiet relaxation. The beach is equipped with loungers and umbrellas, along with various dining options. Many visitors wait for dusk before leaving, as the view when the sky ignites with a glowing red sun is nothing short of extraordinary.

Nice location

This beach has a prime location with cliffs all around it. The water is clear, so it is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The beach is also lined with plenty of bars and restaurants. It gets really crowded during the summer. I recommend getting there early if you want some peace and quiet.

A beautiful mix

This beach is both touristy and natural. There is the side with restaurants and lounge chairs if you want to be comfortable, but there is also the side with cliffs and rocks where you can explore lively seabeds with a mask and snorkel.

Very pretty views at sunset, as the sun dips into the sea and silhouettes the island of Es Vedra.
