Obviously, as a Parisian, I immediately thought of the Eiffel Tower when I saw the Tokyo Tower. Going up to the observation deck is nice, with a beautiful view of Tokyo, even if the city is so huge that you do not really know where to look anymore (a bit like in Paris, actually). It is not the most beautiful monument in Tokyo, and even less so in all of Japan, but I still recommend it.

Imagine a ruined castle, tucked away on a hill and now completely surrounded by nature. This place offers a walk with a dreamlike atmosphere! The vibe can be a little heavy at times when you think about the tragedies that happened there (the waterfall is allegedly haunted, by the way). You will have to walk a bit, but it is nothing too difficult or unpleasant, especially when the scenery is this beautiful.

In Japan, I usually lean toward visiting temples and soaking up the local beliefs. But sometimes it is nice to find more familiar symbols! So I was curious to discover this cathedral. It is a pretty simple and sober place, which looks a bit like a castle. The surroundings are quite pleasant. Pretty, but not a must-see.

A large, very old complex. You are immediately welcomed by an atmosphere of serenity and purity. Yet, it is located right in the middle of an urban area! As you can tell, if you are looking for a place to catch your breath, you will be welcome here. In the end, it is a bit like a large wooded park that you explore with joy.

It is in every guidebook, so it is hard not to visit when you are in Tokyo. The place is spectacular, right in the heart of the city, but going there in the middle of the day is a nightmare (at least for people like me who avoid crowds as much as possible). There are so many people that it is actually oppressive. If it is possible for you to go early in the morning or later in the evening, you will surely enjoy the atmosphere of this sanctuary much more. There is a nice free viewpoint to see it from above on the 8th floor of the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center, which has fewer people, is warm, and includes a cafe!

If there is one temple you cannot miss in Kamakura, it is this one. You can see the famous Great Buddha sitting there. Note that the Buddha is an attraction in its own right, since you can go inside (and realize that it is not always respected, given the graffiti). I recommend visiting in the spring to take full advantage of the greenery and the trees.

I love these flowers and the atmosphere of Japanese temples. Needless to say, this place was perfect for me! You really have to go in June to enjoy it to the fullest. Yes, it is crowded, but that is the case with the cherry blossoms too. Besides, it is worth the trip. The plants are absolutely beautiful. A magical and very green spot.

A spot you can usually only photograph from a distance. You can actually cross them if you go to the Imperial Palace for New Year's. It is an experience I highly recommend, even though it will be very crowded. These beautiful bridges with their Western architecture are definitely part of the city's history. A great place to take pictures!

It is the third tallest tower in Tokyo! And you can spot it from far away if you are in the neighborhood. I remember seeing it for my part after visiting Shinjuku-Gyoen. You will surely see it if you visit this iconic spot in Tokyo! On the other hand, apart from the annex, you cannot visit it. It houses professional offices.

If you have the airport in mind, you would never imagine that the city hides such a temple. And yet! I really loved the traditional charm of the place and its shopping street. It reminded me a bit of Asakusa, but maybe less busy. There is really a very authentic side to it. You can taste the local specialties and walk through the temple garden, watching the koi fish. A nice little stopover!
