#1 Borghese Gallery
The Borghese Gallery is a staple of Rome. Like many cultural sites here, it houses a private collection from a wealthy local family. Cardinal Scipione Borghese, a dedicated art patron, spent his life gathering masterpieces from the 16th and 17th centuries by Raphael, Bernini, and Caravaggio. The city purchased the villa and gardens in the early 20th century.
