What to know about Aqua Mundo in the Landes de Gascogne
Follow a fern-lined road deep into a massive pine forest and you have arrived at Aqua Mundo, a water park located just 1 hour and 15 minutes from Bordeaux and 1 hour and 45 minutes from Toulouse, in the southern part of the Lot-et-Garonne. It is situated within the brand-new Center Parcs Aquitaine.

A water park with a distinct identity
Tucked inside the newest addition to the Center Parcs family, which opened on May 23, 2022, this 3,000-square-meter aquatic space is hard to miss. Its architecture draws direct inspiration from the traditional tobacco drying barns native to this region. This is evident in the massive timber framework supporting an impressive dome and the wide glass panes looking out over the surrounding pine forest. Inside, the space functions like a winter garden or a tropical bubble, hosting a mix of local and tropical plants.
A complex recognized for high-end slides
The stars of this Aqua Mundo are its three thrill slides, including the Anaconda and two Racers. The former lives up to its name, requiring you to ride in a tube while gripping two handles for maximum intensity. The latter pair offers its own dose of adrenaline with two parallel 81-meter tunnels that allow swimmers to race each other. The top speed is 25 km/h (15.5 mph).
It is no surprise that Aqua Mundo in the Landes de Gascogne took 2nd place for its Racers in the best slide category at the European Star Awards 2022.
A complete recreation hub
Activities are not limited to just these three slides. Under the massive dome of Aqua Mundo, you will find pools for all ages with whirlpools, jets, and waterfalls, a wave pool, a children's area with a water tree and wading pool, a wild river, and a hot tub.
You can also enjoy outdoor facilities, including pools, a wading pool, and a beach area to lay out your towel and soak up the sun. There is also a wide range of aquatic activities available for an extra fee, such as Aqua Gym, Aqua Bike, Aqua Speed, baby swimming classes, pool parties, and spa services.

I think it is a bit of an exaggeration to call the slides "thrill rides," but they are still pretty fun. Plus, the area around it is beautiful, so the swimming in the outdoor pools is really enjoyable.
