Visiting Calvi Harbor
Located at the foot of the citadel, Calvi Harbor is a walkable spot where sailors, local fishermen, and travelers converge. Lined with cafe terraces and restaurants, the area maintains a high-energy feel, especially in summer when pleasure craft and yachts fill the slips.
Mediterranean Vibes and Citadel Views
Strolling along Quai Landry (Landry Quay) lets you watch the boats while taking in the bay. On one side, you have the deep blue Mediterranean water, and on the other, the colorful facades of the harborfront buildings. Looking up, you see the citadel perched on its rocky promontory, a sharp contrast to the bustle of the waterfront.
A Launchpad for Coastal Exploration
The harbor serves as the primary departure point for sea excursions. Local operators run boat trips to the Scandola Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as tours to the wild coves along the coast. You can charter a boat to explore the area at your own pace or try scuba diving in the clear waters of the golfe de Calvi (Gulf of Calvi).
The Spot for Corsican Dining by the Water
The quay is packed with restaurants and cafes where you can sample Corsican specialties while looking out at the sailboats. In the evening, the scene picks up speed as the terraces fill and outdoor music occasionally fills the air. For a quieter experience, head down in the morning when the harbor is just waking up and you can watch the fishing boats return to port.
Very poor reception at Calvi Harbor, the harbor master's office is not friendly to boaters, we paid €50 for an offshore mooring and had no access to the restrooms because "that depends on the leniency of the harbor master's office." We will not be coming back and do not recommend this port, even though the town seems very nice.
