Visiting Xel-Ha Park, a natural sanctuary in the heart of the Yucatan
Located about 20 minutes north of Tulum, Xel-Ha Park is a primary stop for anyone exploring the Yucatan Peninsula. This eco-tourism park balances adventure, nature, and culture in a setting where the Caribbean Sea meets the dense jungle.
An exceptional aquatic sanctuary
Xel-Ha Park is known for its natural lagoon where the sea and freshwater rivers converge, creating an environment rich in marine biodiversity. You can explore this aquatic sanctuary by snorkeling in its clear waters. The park supports a wide range of tropical fish, coral formations, and other marine life, providing a reliable underwater experience.
If you prefer to stay on the surface, inner tubes and kayaks are available, allowing you to drift along the river while taking in the surrounding landscape.
Land activities and relaxation
Beyond the water, Xel-Ha Park offers several land-based activities for all ages. You can explore hiking trails through the jungle on foot or by bike to spot local flora and fauna, or try the zipline that carries you over the lagoon. If you need to decompress, the park features several beaches and hammocks shaded by trees, which are ideal for resting after a long day.
The park is also committed to environmental preservation, which is evident in its sustainable practices and educational programs designed to highlight the importance of protecting the local ecosystem. Note that only biodegradable sunscreens are permitted inside the park.
An all-inclusive experience
The park operates on an all-inclusive model, providing unlimited access to buffets featuring Mexican and international cuisine, along with non-alcoholic beverages and refreshing cocktails. This admission also covers the rental of safety equipment for snorkeling (mask, snorkel, and life vest) as well as access to bicycles. This structure allows you to enjoy your day without worrying about additional costs.

Xel-Há is a natural aquatic park located in the Yucatán, Mexico. It is loved by visitors for its huge lagoon with crystal clear water. This unique spot lets you go snorkeling among colorful fish. I especially liked the variety of activities offered, ranging from floating down the river in an inner tube to jumping off the cliffs, even though I was a little stressed about jumping. The setting is perfectly integrated into nature and the organization is well thought out, which means the atmosphere stays peaceful despite the crowds. The all-inclusive aspect is debatable, because it definitely drives up the price.
