Hollywood's legendary concert venue

Located in the heart of Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard, the Hollywood Palladium is a West Coast performance landmark. Since opening, this venue has served as a primary hub for major concerts and events, shaping the cultural history of Los Angeles.

A major music stage since the 1940s

Opened in 1940, the Hollywood Palladium was designed by architect Gordon Kaufmann, known for his work on the Hoover Dam. The venue, with its 11,200 square foot floor, was the largest of its kind in Los Angeles at the time. Its distinct Art Deco architecture led to its inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The Palladium launched with a masked ball celebrating a 20th Century Fox film premiere. Over the decades, it has hosted memorable events, including Big Band era jazz concerts, galas, and television broadcasts.

The Palladium has been a firsthand witness to the musical and cultural evolution of the city by hosting renowned artists across every genre.

Renovation and modern status

Renovated in 2008, the Hollywood Palladium preserved its historic charm while integrating modern upgrades.

The venue can hold up to 4,000 people and now hosts a wide variety of events, ranging from rock, hip-hop, and electronic music to galas and private events.

The acoustic quality and high-tech installations ensure an immersive experience for the audience. Beyond its main floor, the Palladium offers VIP areas and lounge spaces that enhance the spectator experience.

The exterior facade, with its iconic neon sign, remains a lasting symbol of the golden age of Hollywood.

An intimate concert venue

When I went, I was able to see a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert, and it is rare for a band like that to play in such a small venue. For me, that is what makes the place so charming.
The price of drinks is a bit excessive and you have to get in line pretty early to get a good spot for big shows, but it is really worth the trouble. It is a chance to see some great bands in a way other than in a stadium.
