It was the very last stop of my trip, before heading to the airport. It is a super park for a nice walk, very open with a great view of Osaka, and of course the castle. Lots of little surprises: an old man with his eagle, a crowd of hundreds of Japanese women with their little fans featuring a star, and great sun to enjoy this last day. Top notch for a nice chill walk, combined with visiting the castle!

A gorgeous, wild, and untouched lake nestled in the Hauts Cantons, right on the border of Hérault and Tarn. Much less crowded than Salagou, and super family friendly. The setting really takes you away from it all, with the fir forests contrasting sharply with the southern French garrigue scrubland. In winter, when it snows, people call it the little Canada of Hérault!! Several developed beaches make it easy to access the lake, which is surrounded by hotel restaurants if you want to grab a bite or stay overnight. On the activity front, there is something for everyone: pedal boats, paddleboarding, canoeing, boating, and a treetop adventure park. During heatwaves, locals from Hérault have made it a habit to come here to cool off and avoid the crowds on the coast.

It is located in the heart of the Hérault between Montpellier and Béziers. It is an artificial lake that was created to allow the irrigation of the Hérault plain in the late 1960s. What is surprising about it is the red earth, which is rich in iron oxide. All the hills are red, which makes for a real change of scenery. It is a place where you can swim, there is a water sports center, and otherwise, given its size, it is possible to find spots where there is nobody around. It is an area where there are many hippies who live in harmony with nature. As soon as the nice weather arrives, there are many vans that come to bivouac.

Located 20 minutes from Montpellier, this lake is actually private. It is accessible, though, by paying for parking, €5 for adults and €3 for children. There is an outdoor café set up and the view is really nice. The water color is gorgeous and the view with the pine trees surrounding this lake is gorgeous. You can go hiking around the lake through the pine trees. I am bummed that parking is not free anymore, since before you could come here without having to pay.

This is THE square in Montpellier, the meeting place for all locals. It is located just a stone's throw from the train station and is served by two tram lines. What you need to know is that it sits right in the center of Montpellier's pedestrian zone, which is the largest pedestrian area in France. It is surrounded by bars and restaurants (which I do not necessarily recommend), and you will find the opera house, the Three Graces fountain, the tourist office, and it connects to the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle and the Polygone shopping center. This square was remodeled a few years ago, notably the ground which was replaced since it used to be very slippery back then. Water features were added,…
So it is convenient because it lets you avoid having to hunt down a store or an operator shop at the airport. The small plans are pretty good, but not the ones with a lot of data.

Works just like Booking. I actually use it interchangeably with them for my trips to Paris. The more you use it, the more discounts you get. The selection is great for Europe. You can view properties on a map, which is super convenient, and you can filter by rates, etc. When it comes to payments, you can pay later with free cancellation, which is really handy.

We were looking for something truly custom for our honeymoon, and we booked with Voyages de Luxe, Place Vendôme. Right from the first meeting, we felt we were in good hands. They suggested a two-island combo, specifically to discover two different atolls. Each time, an overwater villa with a private pool. We hesitated a bit at first because we figured it would be complicated to organize, but actually they handled everything from A to Z. The first island was already gorgeous, we settled in right away. The villa was spot on, just like we pictured it: right over the water, the pool right in front, and above all that peace and quiet... We stayed there several days without moving much, just enjo…
