Hagia Sophia

Splendeur de l'empire Byzantin, Sainte-Sophie ou Hagia Sophia est un des symboles d'Istanbul. Basilica Cistern

Sous le règne de Justinien 1er, la Citerne Basilique servait de lieu de stockage pour les 100 000 m3 d'eau de la réserve du palais Byzantin. Site souterrain absolument vertigineux avec 336 colonnes qui soutiennent les arcs et les voûtes, dont deux avec une base en tête de Méduse, il était tombé dans l'oubli jusqu'à ce que des fouilles ne révèlent sa splendeur en 1550. Il signe aujourd'hui un des monument les plus mystérieux et fascinants d'Istanbul, véritable havre de calme dans les entrailles d'une ville palpitante, sa visite fait partie des moments forts qu'offre la cité.

Galata Tower

Topkapi Palace

A multicultural city

Some people might disagree, but I see Istanbul as a European city that acts as the perfect link between two continents, and between several civilizations. I love the spirit of this city!

A trip back in time

Influenced by a succession of civilizations, Istanbul keeps traces of these different eras (Byzantine, Christian, Mongol, Turkish...).

It is such a beautiful journey to walk through its streets and alleyways. And the Bosphorus has something magical about it.

Sublime city full of history

I went to Istanbul in 2014 and I think this trip will stay etched in my memory in every last detail. This city is absolutely sublime and there are so many things to discover there. Every place is steeped in history, I even caught myself reading my entire paper guidebook because it was so interesting. It is impossible to get tired of its mosques, its palaces, its bazaar, its tea and hookah bars. Istanbul is a touristy, cultural city, but it is also great for unwinding and relaxing.

History, traditions, modernity, and the Bosphorus!

Everything is in the title.

When you come to Istanbul, you are coming to a place filled with history where many civilizations have crossed paths. Traces of the past are scattered almost everywhere in the city.

The locals today, for their part, live both in the continuation of traditions and in modernity.

Finally, you are on the Bosphorus, you will have pretty views of the sea, and there are a few beaches that are not too bad for hanging out (expect a bit of travel time).

Magical Istanbul

Istanbul, crossed by the Bosphorus. A city with a thousand facets, rooted between the East and the West. You can visit Istanbul ten times and discover the city in a different way each time. It was a book that made me want to travel there, and every time I go back, it is always with just as much pleasure.
Even if you go in the summer, pack some sweaters because the evenings are chilly. And plan on coming back a second time, you will be just as enchanted as if you were discovering the city for the first time...

A city full of surprises

If there is one surprising city, it is Istanbul. I think many of us have a stereotypical image of it as a Muslim city of the Orient (cynics might say "Asia" to fuel the controversy over Turkey's presence in Europe).

I invite you to spend a few days in Istanbul, and you will be surprised. The people, the neighborhoods, the activities, the shops, there is a beautiful mix of the West and the East. And you are constantly surprised by what you discover at every street corner.
