A nice museum to visit, especially for the setting and the colors of the house. The collection remains limited, focusing more on Frida's life than on her art. The garden is very beautiful with pretty plants. A small downside: a pass is sold at the entrance if you want to take photos or videos. It is an interesting outing but not essential if you are not all that interested in the artist.

Like the name suggests, this isn't an art museum where you go to see pretty things. It's more of a place where you can understand a lot about the pre-Hispanic past of the American continent. For example, that's where I discovered that American "Indians" actually descend from Mongol and Asian tribes who crossed the Bering Strait thousands of years ago... Christopher Columbus didn't discover anything!

Mexico, and Latin America in general, is the cradle of extraordinary civilizations that were already very advanced by the time Europeans arrived. I am thinking, for example, of the Aztecs or the Mayans. I found it very interesting to be able to learn more about this glorious, relatively unknown past.

Housed in the Castillo de Chapultepec, the National Museum of History is worth the trip to admire the historical paintings. You can learn more about the presidency of Benito Juárez, the revolutionary hero Emiliano Zapata, or even the battle against the French under Napoleon III.

Housed in a stunning Renaissance building, the central post office in Mexico City spans 2 floors connected by magnificent copper staircases. The service counters are just as sumptuous. Mailing your postcards from such an authentic post office won't make any difference to the recipients, but it offers a little moment of personal glory!

The white elephant, as the Mexicans call it, is a superb palace that hosts luxurious concerts and shows. At sunset, the white facades topped with the yellow dome offer beautiful light for photos. Don't miss taking a look at the inside. Clad entirely in marble, the Palace spans two floors and displays frescoes by great Mexican painters.

The Templo Mayor Museum is worth the trip for the archaeological pieces discovered during the construction of the Mexico City metro. You can notably see the imposing Coyolxauhqui Monolith, the bas-relief of the goddess Tlaltecuhtli, or even the Cuauhxicalli eagle sculpture. There is a lot of information on the daily and religious life of the Aztecs, with an exhibition of all the objects in terracotta, metal, or obsidian.
