The Rouen Cathedral is a must-see when visiting the city. Because of its history, its architecture, and especially (for me) for the experience of contemplating its absolutely grandiose facade. The Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey is simply incredible, a real must-see. I loved getting lost in the narrow streets and taking in the spectacular views of the bay. The landscapes change with the rhythm of the tides. It is just magnificent. I highly recommend it. You need to be prepared to climb a lot of stairs to get to the abbey. And watch out for the crowds in the summer: it is better to visit in the off-season.

The Carteret Lighthouse is a five-star viewpoint. It is very easy to get to. After a few steps, you will enjoy a sumptuous daytime view of the region and especially the Channel Islands of Jersey, Sark, and Alderney. At night, you are surrounded by darkness. It is a beautiful place to admire the stars when the sky is clear.

Mont-Saint-Michel is a truly incredible and very impressive site. The abbey is one of the must-see spots to visit. The interior is super interesting, and the explanations are clear and detailed. Unfortunately, there are always a lot of people, which diminishes the charm of the place a little bit.

Here, nature is queen: wild cliffs, heather moors, and a preserved coastline. Going to Goury feels like going to the end of the world. Goury, at the tip of La Hague, offers soothing seascapes and a touch of Ireland. Goury has a rich maritime history. The port of Goury, once bustling with customs officers and smugglers, now houses a SNSM sea rescue station that is open to the public.

The village of Gatteville-le-Phare is mainly famous for its lighthouse, which stands at 75 meters tall. You need a bit of courage to climb the steps to the top, and you should not be afraid of heights once you get there. But the reward is worth it, and that is an understatement. The view is just magnificent. Do not hesitate for a second if you are passing through the area. I try to do a motorcycle road trip in the north Cotentin every two years, and stopping at the Gatteville lighthouse is a must. Depending on the weather and the seasons, the view from the top is always different, a real treat.

This is the paid tour you should do on the Mont if you only do one. Forget the other tours, which can sometimes be tourist traps. There are many different tours offered. From self-guided tours with a paper guide to guided conferences, there are several options available. Do not let the price stop you, as it may seem a bit high sometimes, but this visit is a must. This tour is obviously a bit of a workout, as there are many steps, but the view from the terrace is a real reward.
