I was impressed by the size of this building, which is truly immense. Napoleon's tomb is also imposing and quite elegant. I recommend visiting the museum, which is super interesting. Plan on spending several hours there.

Less well known, this relatively modest-sized chateau doesn't lack charm. I visited it back in high school and went back in December. I loved the festive atmosphere, the flowers, the big Christmas tree, not to mention the fireplace. If you are looking for somewhere to spend a lovely Christmas evening, Vaux-le-Vicomte is a great option! I also enjoyed the French-style gardens and a pretty sound and light show on the facade. A must see!

I really like this Parisian monument with its beautiful golden dome. I went inside to see Napoleon's tomb. Beyond the sheer size of the sarcophagus, which is fitting for the man himself, the room is very impressive. There is an almost religious atmosphere there, and you discover the great legacies of Napoleon. I also did the Army Museum. Heads up, it is huge. It is impossible to see everything in two hours. The section dedicated to the two world wars is particularly dense. I preferred the royal armor, which was truly magnificent. Plan for at least half a day.

Fontainebleau Palace blends many different styles and has a slightly more intimate vibe than some of the other big palaces. The famous horseshoe staircase gives the Cour du Cheval Blanc a theatrical feel. Several French kings, as well as Napoleon, lived here, and you can really feel that in the varied decor. As is often the case with these castles, the gardens are part of the visit, and I highly recommend them.

The Hôtel des Invalides was commissioned by Louis XIV to house the disabled veterans of his army. But today, it is mostly known for housing Napoleon's tomb. It is displayed really well, and the place is truly magnificent. I also had the chance to see the incredible "La Nuit aux Invalides," a superb sound and light show projected onto the building's facade in the courtyard.

The building is impressive, and when the sun is out, the exceptional gardens open up as a haven of peace. Compared to other estates near Paris, Fontainebleau isn't the most beautiful palace for me. I preferred the architecture and the grounds at Chantilly. While the Château de Fontainebleau is less impressive from the outside, it houses magnificent decorations with some very lovely period furniture. I loved the rooms lived in by Marie-Antoinette and the state apartments of Napoleon I. The visit really immersed me in the history of the royal court. I recommend getting a guide for a better experience. The ticket for the palace allows you to visit the apartments, the Napoleon Museum, and the gardens for the whole day.

A place to see and see again. The interior is splendid, with its historic rooms, its imperial theater, and its chapel. The facade, with its horseshoe staircase, is just as magnificent. The gardens are free and open to the public. I recommend going for a boat ride on the carp pond, coming for a picnic in nice weather, or taking the little train to visit the park.

While the exterior facade is very massive and perhaps not the most beautiful among French chateaus, the interior is magical. Gilding, chandeliers, everything is magnificent, especially in the famous Hall of Mirrors. I also love wandering over to the Queen's Hamlet, which is quieter and picturesque. The gardens are stunning during the Musical Fountains show, with the water features set to music. Less well known, I also recommend the Royal Opera of Versailles. It is a sumptuous hall with incredible acoustics.
