The Rialto Bridge is a stone arch bridge spanning the Grand Canal in Venice. Built between 1588 and 1591, it remained the only crossing over the canal until 1854. Measuring 48 meters long, the structure rests on over 6,000 wooden piles. Today, it hosts numerous souvenir shops and serves as a primary symbol of the city.
The Bridge of Sighs is a famous landmark in Venice. It connects the Doge's Palace to the prison, spanning the Rio di Palazzo. Built in the 17th century, the white stone bridge features arched windows. It gets its name from the prisoners who sighed while being led to their cells after sentencing.
The four spires added in 1823 give Guglie Bridge its name and distinct look. It is the only bridge in Venice with pinnacles at the base of its ramps. The current stone structure dates to 1580, replacing a wooden version from 1285. This elegant landmark crosses the Canale di Cannaregio, featuring a carved balustrade and gargoyles.

Visiting and discovering Venice as a couple, especially when your wife is pregnant with your first child, believe me, it is priceless. I was impatient to get up on the Rialto Bridge, and I was not disappointed by the superb view that was offered to me. I do regret the large number of tourists, however, and even more so the number of souvenir shops. Not very authentic feeling. I admit I preferred getting lost in the streets of Venice rather than lingering in the Rialto neighborhood, which I still recommend visiting once in your life.

Even though it might seem less impressive because of its small size, I found the Bridge of Sighs much prettier than the Rialto. It is a legendary Venice landmark that has an exceptional history. Although you cannot walk across it or visit the inside, stop to admire it for at least a few minutes. For my part, I was not disappointed at all.

I was really looking forward to seeing the famous Rialto Bridge, and I was clearly not the only one. While this bridge is a must-see during your trip to Venice, be prepared for it to be very crowded. Crossing it requires a bit of patience, especially if you don't like crowds. It is impossible to linger or take nice photos, which is a bit of a shame.
The bridge itself didn't really leave much of an impression on me. It is still interesting to see what old-fashioned bridges looked like, back when they were lined with shops of all kinds.

Easily recognizable, it will serve as a landmark for you in the maze of Venetian alleys.

Venice should be visited without a map. It is made for getting lost, and that is how you discover endless bridges and palaces.
But above all, do not visit Venice without seeing the Bridge of Sighs!

Tucked between two walls, it is quite small. For a long time, it marked the boundary between freedom and captivity, and for that reason alone, it has something moving about it. I think the most impressive thing about it all is thinking that it is located just a stone's throw from huge palaces and a lively square, and that today it is primarily just a curiosity. I like that contrast, and I recommend that you give it at least a glance and two seconds of reflection.

For me, the Rialto Bridge is associated with exhaustion. It was after getting lost and wandering for a good two hours in the alleys that I stumbled upon this bridge, completely by chance. It was a bit like an oasis in the middle of a desert, and as soon as I spotted it, I knew I would find my way back. So sure, I was wiped out and I couldn't feel my legs anymore, but I was so relieved. It is not strictly speaking an ideal place to take a break, as there are a lot of tourists and especially a lot of charming shops (mostly accessories), but you will always find a little corner to settle into with a view of the water.

This bridge is less impressive than the Rialto Bridge, but I found it more beautiful because it fits in better with the surrounding buildings. The bridge is wide and has large steps. When you cross it, you come out onto a shopping street where you can enjoy some great Italian gelato! I found this bridge less overwhelming than the Rialto Bridge.

I was a little disappointed by this bridge because it is squeezed between two buildings, one of which was under renovation with a huge advertisement right next to it. Not great for the romantic vibe! I also wanted to try seeing it from a gondola, but the price was way too high. A monument that left me wanting more.

However, it is the Rialto, the one you see in movies, and the one you cannot miss if you come to Venice...
