A bit of history and architecture
Aqua Mundo opened in 2017 as part of the Village Nature project, a collaboration between industry giants Center Parcs and Euro Disney. While the goal was to build a water park, there was also an architectural challenge to meet, which was to make the building blend into its surroundings. Architect Jacques Ferrier designed a tiered structure with a wooden frame wrapped in glass, resembling an origami figure or a giant seashell unfolding toward the sky.
One of Europe's largest water parks
Calling it giant is an understatement when you look at the numbers. It covers a total surface area of 9,000 square meters, split between 2,500 square meters of outdoor space and 7,000 square meters indoors, all reaching nearly 35 meters in height. It is a genuine architectural feat that visitors can walk to the top of via landscaped terraces that serve as a scenic, planted promenade.
Capable of hosting up to 2,800 swimmers, Aqua Mundo focuses on 4 water zones: bubbling (hot tubs), fun (wave pool, rapid river, water tree, splash pads, lagoons), relaxing (spa), and high-adrenaline (giant slides, aquatic climbing wall).
Activities that match the scale
The standout attractions include the Tour de l'Eau (Water Tower) and the Tour de l'Air (Air Tower), which house no fewer than 7 slides, ranging from standard to extreme. Another unique feature is Le Roc, a water-based climbing course filled with obstacles. Finally, the most tranquil but equally worthwhile area is the spa, complete with a salt cabin, steam room, sauna, and a relaxation area with a tea corner.
A wide range of additional activities are available by reservation (aquabiking, aquajumping, water polo, infant swimming lessons), not to mention the various on-site services like locker rooms, showers, a photo shop, and a snack bar.
To wrap things up, the Avygeo editorial team has selected Aqua Mundo as one of the best family activities near Paris.
