What to know about Los Genoveses Beach
Deep within the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, Los Genoveses Beach is a stretch of golden sand framed by Mediterranean flora and volcanic hills. It is widely considered one of the finest beaches in the region and offers a quiet atmosphere for those looking to move at a slower pace. Here is what to expect.

Los Genoveses Beach remains completely undeveloped, with no buildings or facilities, which is the secret to its appeal. The fine sand, calm water, and crescent-shaped bay surrounded by rolling hills create a landscape that feels both gentle and dramatic. This protected setting is ideal for travelers who prefer an authentic beach experience away from the typical tourist crowds.
Activities and relaxation
With clear water and generally gentle surf, the beach is well-suited for swimming, including for families with children. If you prefer to stay on land, you can explore the surrounding hills along trails that provide sweeping views of the bay and the park. The areas near the dunes are also perfect for a slow walk, where you might spot some of the local wildlife.
Tips for your visit
Located about 3 kilometers from the town of San José, Los Genoveses Beach is accessible by car, though access is sometimes restricted during the peak summer season to protect the ecosystem. Plan to arrive early to secure a parking spot and remember to pack your own food and water, as there are no services on the beach. If you can, stay for the sunset, as the light over the water is worth the extra time.
Large sandy beach located in a quiet area away from the development. I prefer it to its neighbor Monsul, which is technically more popular but was much windier (at least on the day we visited).
