I am not particularly interested in technical structures, but I felt I had to visit the famous Panama Canal. I was totally blown away by the Miraflores Locks. You have to go at the right time, otherwise you will not see anything, because the ships have a specific direction and schedule.
You will see boats up to 49 meters wide cross the locks. Having a guide is a plus to really understand it all. In 2016, the Panama Canal was expanded to allow ships called Neo Panamax to pass through.
