Honestly, have you ever heard of this museum? Probably not. When we talk about Algiers, or Algeria in general, we rarely talk about the treasures that this country hides (intentionally or not?). Very beautiful building surrounded by a magnificent garden. Very interesting collections to discover, even if they are not always very complete.

Fans of sailing, boats, and maritime history are going to love this. There are so many models and objects to help you understand how this industry has evolved, which has the unique quirk of giving a name to every single one of its ships. Even if you are not a huge fan but are just a little curious, you should enjoy it!

I have never seen a building that looks anything like this one. Inside, you get through the different rooms pretty quickly. It is not too crowded. It is fairly uneven, some of the light displays are intriguing, others are just average.

Immense spaces open up before your eyes as you gain altitude, landscapes that could come from another planet. It is a bit of an expedition to get there, and to get back, but once you are there, it is pure bliss. You feel so small and fragile in this majestic and unforgiving nature. You end up forgetting your daily worries for a bit, and it really helps you reconnect with yourself.

Unlike many other aquariums, this one has outdoor spaces that really add a lot. I also loved the whale sharks, they are just huge. Another plus: the ticket price, less than €15 (about $16) is totally fair. What I liked less: it is super far from the city! A 2-hour drive from Naha, that makes for 4 hours round trip in one day...

Non-Muslims can visit the inside, outside of prayer times. The architecture and interior decoration are pretty nice, without being exceptional. Visit the park around it to learn more about the history of Islam in general and in Asia. The best part of this religious monument is the view it offers at sunset and in the evening, with superb colors.

This large, very central square, dominated by the Victor Emmanuel II monument just above the Roman Forums, is one of the most beautiful I have seen in Rome. Whether it is the historic buildings or the simple structures surrounding this square, everything takes on a monumental look. The only small criticism you could make is that it is also a major traffic artery, which ruins its charm a little bit.

OK, it was easy to use that famous quote for my review title. Still, if you dig a little into that now clichéd expression, you have to remember that a large part of European civilization owes so much to the Romans: urban planning, construction, language, culture, and political and social organization. Visiting Rome means diving back into the history of a civilization that shaped the history of Europe. Traces of the past and of history are everywhere you look throughout the city. There is, of course, the must-see area of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. But far beyond that, just walk around randomly and you will find things to see. One small disappointment: the food. A hotel that aims to let you live in the era of the Roman Empire. Pretty nice, even if it is not completely realistic (but hey, it would be a shame to give up modern comfort just to take the simulation all the way). Either way, it fits the vibe of the Puy du Fou really well, which is located right next door.

Is it even necessary to recommend the Sistine Chapel when there is so much talk about it already? I will take the liberty of pointing out, however, that it is very reductive to limit the place to Michelangelo's Creation of Adam (you know, that famous painting where God and Adam reach out to each other). Actually, I was expecting a much larger, more central painting. In fact, no, it only represents a tiny part of the many frescoes covering the vault and walls of the chapel. Furthermore, I was very impressed by the Gallery of Maps, which people talk about much less. A gallery about a hundred meters long that is richly decorated, sculpted, painted, gilded... A real visual slap in the face!

I have often traveled to England to visit London... You almost forget that there are more rural, more natural places to see in this country. A real change of scenery to experience by visiting this park. Very easy to access, by the way.

If you are into nature's treasures, this reserve will fascinate you. If you go in the winter (plan on 2.5 to 3 hours by bus each way from Mexico City), you will see patches of forest filled with beautiful butterflies. I do not think you can see anything like this anywhere else in the world.
