Paris by Boat: Day or Night, How to Choose?

Translated from French — Read the French original

Paris is the city of lovers. Steeped in art and culture, it’s a favorite destination for travelers from all over. Everyone dreams of visiting Paris at least once, but to make your trip truly unforgettable, why not experience it from a different perspective, like from the deck of a boat? But how do you choose between a daytime cruise and a night out on the water?

With the family

Notre Dame Cathedral seen from the SeineIf you’re visiting the capital with your family and want to uncover the city’s hidden treasures, a daytime cruise is your best bet. Not only will you avoid the stress of keeping a close eye on the kids in crowded streets, but you can also enjoy the tour while sharing a snack or a lunch on board. You’ll discover the history of the City of Light in just a few moments without having to trek all over town, saving you from dragging the kids from one spot to another all day long. Plus, this mode of transport keeps you away from the city's notorious traffic jams. Most boats are also pet-friendly, and the staff will be happy to look after your furry friends while you soak in the views.

As a couple

Nothing beats an evening cruise when you’re out with your sweetheart. Watching the entire city light up from the Seine creates a perfectly romantic and intimate atmosphere, complete with soft music to accompany a candlelight dinner. You’ll see all the major monuments, including the Eiffel Tower, draped in shimmering lights. If you’re looking to share a magical moment with your significant other, a nighttime cruise is the way to go. As you drift along the Seine, you’ll see every single one of Paris's iconic landmarks. It feels like stepping back in time, letting the boat carry you through the city's rich history.

With friends

If you’re vacationing with friends, you can’t go wrong with either a day or night cruise, both offer incredible views. You can gather around a table for a leisurely lunch or dinner on the boat. If you’re just looking to grab a drink and take in the scenery, you can head straight to the boat’s bar. Many vessels feature full restaurants and bars, ensuring everyone can make the most of the experience.
