What to know about Lloret de Mar Beach
The warm, calm turquoise waters have built the reputation of Lloret de Mar, a top destination for travelers looking to enjoy the Costa Brava. The sun hits the rocky coastline where small coves and wide beaches sit tucked away. The most central spot is Lloret de Mar Beach, which is just a short walk from the urban core. Located in the southern part of Catalonia, this city is known for a high-energy nightlife scene, though it is just as much defined by a relaxed pace of life.
A massive beach in the city center
The Mediterranean is at its best here, with water temperatures hitting 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius) in the summer, making it ideal for swimming. Five beaches make up the city shoreline, joined by a collection of coves framed by cliffs or pine forests. This natural landscape is the main draw of the Costa Brava. Right in the middle of town, Lloret de Mar Beach serves as the primary hub. Its location near the city center means it is rarely quiet, especially during the summer months. Through October, visitors can enjoy this stretch of coast that spans one and a half kilometers (about 0.9 miles). It is the largest beach in the area and features a gentle slope into the sea. The sand is made of small gravel, and like most local beaches, it holds a Blue Flag certification, which serves as a standard for water quality and amenities. The beach is well-outfitted with lounge chairs and small restaurants, and it acts as a center for leisure activities, including kids clubs and water sports like water skiing or jet skiing. By walking along the coast, you can reach the small cove of Sa Caleta where the view of the castle is excellent. It is a perfect spot for snorkeling and offers plenty of character.

The beach itself is very beautiful and pleasant with fine sand and turquoise water. Unfortunately, in the summer there are so many people that it makes the experience much less enjoyable right away. It is very lively, sometimes even too much so. I recommend moving away a bit, even if it means taking the car, to find quieter spots.
