Visiting Canada's Wonderland
Canada's Wonderland stands as one of the premier amusement parks in the country. Located in Vaughan, 35 km north of Toronto, the park is widely recognized for its roller coasters. In fact, it houses the fastest one in the nation.
History
After extensive searches to find the ideal spot, the two investors, Taft Broadcasting Company and Great West Life Assurance Company, ultimately selected Vaughan, primarily for its proximity to Toronto and fast access via the highway network.
Construction started in 1979, requiring the work of 12 architectural and engineering firms. Following 2 years of construction, on May 23, 1981, the park opened with an impressive grand opening ceremony. 12,000 helium-filled balloons, 13 parachutists, 350 white doves, and several marching bands turned the day into a national event.
In 1992, the park expanded and added a water park component to its attractions. The largest outdoor wave pool in Canada was built, along with 13 other rides.
The Attractions
The park is divided into 8 themed zones. First, Action Zone serves as the high-thrill section where you will mainly find roller coasters and other fast-paced rides. International Festival and International Street are much smaller areas featuring a handful of rides. Médiéval Faire transports you to a medieval town with movie-set quality decor, and also houses a few thrill coasters. Splash Works and Whitewater Canyon make up the two water zones. The former holds classic water rides, while the latter features a motion-seat 3D theater.
Younger visitors are not left out, as Planet Snoopy and Kidzville offer over 23 rides dedicated specifically to children.
The park is known for adding new rides and shows every single year, which forms a major part of its ongoing success.

This amusement park really blew me away in terms of thrills. The park offers activities for kids and adults alike. The most spectacular ones are geared toward adults who will definitely get their money's worth! The roller coasters and big thrill rides are impressive, and you need a strong stomach. There is no equivalent compared to the parks I have visited in France. A park to check out if you are looking for a major adrenaline rush.
