Visiting Montmorency Falls, a natural spectacle just outside Quebec

An impressive panorama

Standing at 83 meters tall, Montmorency Falls actually towers over the famous Niagara Falls. Located just a 15-minute drive from downtown Quebec, the site provides a dramatic setting, especially during peak flow seasons. From the observation deck or the suspension bridge spanning the crest of the falls, you get clear views of the Saint Lawrence River and Île d'Orléans.

Activities for every preference

The park offers a range of activities to suit different travel styles. Hiking enthusiasts will appreciate the trails that wind through the park, providing multiple vantage points of the water. For those looking for a workout, the panoramic staircase consisting of over 480 steps provides both a physical challenge and a constant view of the falls.

In winter, the site turns into a frozen landscape. You can see the sugar loaf, a massive cone of ice that forms at the base of the falls, or even try ice climbing for a different perspective.

A trip through history

The Montmorency Falls Park is also a site of historical significance. During the Seven Years' War, this area was the site of battles between French and British forces. Interpretive panels throughout the park detail this history as you explore the natural surroundings. Finally, the Manoir Montmorency, located right on the grounds, is a convenient spot to grab a meal or learn more about the heritage of the site.

Impressive

Montmorency Falls is very impressive because of its height. The trail for walking is easy and offers many viewpoints. You can also take the cable car to go up, and in the summer there is a zipline to get closer to the falls. The site is very accessible, and it is a must-see excursion near Quebec City.

An impressive sight

Montmorency Falls offers a truly impressive sight because of its exceptional height. The site is easily accessible from downtown Quebec City by car and even by bus. You can view the waterfall from pretty close up, which is super. On the other hand, the area around it lacks a bit of nature. It is quite urbanized, which is a shame.

Montmorency Falls, the highest waterfalls in Quebec

Taller than Niagara Falls, Montmorency Falls is definitely a must-visit if you are passing through Quebec City. The natural setting is nothing extraordinary, but the site is well designed, and you can get close to the falls at various heights. It is a walk that really lets you take in the views, and it is easily accessible by bus or car. You can park at the park entrance without any trouble.

Impressive waterfalls

The Montmorency Falls are impressive! After a short walk, there are several viewpoints and you can also head down to the bottom of the falls. At your own risk though, since you will get wet!
A bit disappointed by the surrounding scenery though (parking lot, etc...)
