Visiting SeaWorld San Diego
SeaWorld San Diego in San Diego did not start as a theme park. The original concept was actually an underwater restaurant. The plan was so ambitious that it was technically impossible to build at the time. It eventually evolved into a public aquarium and zoological park, which finally opened its doors in 1964.
The SeaWorld chain
In 1970, a second park opened in Ohio, followed by Orlando in 1973 and San Antonio in 1988. All of these locations are under the ownership of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.
The attractions
SeaWorld is primarily a place for entertainment, and you can find plenty of thrills on the park's roller coasters. You can take a water ride on inner tubes or enjoy one of the many amusement rides.
You can even experience a marine-themed adventure at the 4D theater that opened in the park in 2008.
However, SeaWorld also functions as a place for learning and connecting with marine wildlife.
Attractions such as Orca Encounter, Dolphin Days, and Sea Lions Live are more than just entertainment. They allow you to learn more about these aquatic animals, which are often misunderstood.
Of course, there are many aquariums to visit where you can get a close look at the residents, from sea turtles and sharks to stingrays and tropical fish.
Do not let your kids miss Otter Outlook. This otter habitat consistently provides an entertaining and charming display.
Special programs
For an additional fee, the park allows you to interact with the animals. You can go behind the scenes, shadow the trainers in their work, or help feed dolphins, penguins, or sea lions.
The VIP tour even provides a private guide who will take you closer to the animals and introduce you to the park's professional staff.
SeaWorld San Diego is both fun and educational. It is a worthwhile stop if you are spending time in the city.

Expensive, but a good time to relax with family or friends.
A few rides, but mostly dolphin shows. Orcas, sea lions... It is possible to swim with the dolphins, but at that point, you will have to mortgage your house to afford those few minutes.
