This fortress, dating back to the 17th century, sits high above Barcelona, providing a vantage point over the city, the harbor, and the Mediterranean Sea. It is an ideal spot to survey the city history while taking in the expansive landscape.

Visiting this historic symbol of Barcelona was a bit of a letdown for me. There is not much to see inside, and if you have to pay, I suggest you save your money. Take advantage of the free entry times, especially on Sundays, if you want to check it out. Only the lovely views of the city and the port of Barcelona are worth the trip. For me, it is skippable.
