I went to Parque das Ruínas after taking the famous Escadaria Selarón and heading toward the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro. You walk right by the ruins. Honestly, I did not see the point of this site, even though it was recommended by the Routard guide. It is actually just the ruins of a mansion that has become a contemporary art space. The views are interesting, though. And since it is free, you can always drop by for a quick look.
