Location
Camino Real Aeropuerto Mexico is situated in the eastern section of Mexico City, right next to Benito Juarez Airport. A short drive puts you within reach of several museums, including the Museo de la Luz (Museum of Light), the Templo Mayor Museum, and the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso (San Ildefonso College). You are also near the Templo Mayor site, the Palacio Nacional (National Palace), and historic landmarks like the Secretaría de Educación Pública (Secretariat of Public Education) and the Iglesia de la Enseñanza (Church of Our Lady of the Pillar).
Accommodation
This 4-star hotel features 600 rooms spread across eight floors and two buildings that frame an interior courtyard. Recent rates started at 1,700 MXN (about 91.48 EUR) per night, though pricing fluctuates based on room category and travel dates. Families traveling with young children are welcome, and the hotel provides cribs at no extra charge if you request one during booking. Each room is equipped with individual climate control so you can set the temperature to your preference.
Amenities and Facilities
The property includes a swimming pool. The fitness center is well-equipped with a full range of machines for your workout routine. If you need to unwind, the spa offers a space to relieve muscle tension and stress. You can also use the on-site laundry facilities, which makes it easy to pack lighter for your trip.
Dining
During your stay, you have access to three restaurants on-site or you can opt for 24-hour room service. The lounge bar is a convenient spot for a drink and a break. Breakfast is available daily for an additional fee.
Let's start with the downsides: the neighborhood is not the nicest in Mexico City, and the prices for the room and meals (especially breakfast) are high.
Now, the location is really convenient if you are doing a one-night layover in Mexico City between two flights and want to make your life easier:
You can reach the airport terminal in a few minutes on foot, without having to cross any car lanes (which is sometimes an ordeal in Mexico City, especially with suitcases) thanks to the pedestrian bridge.
At any time of the day or night, you can have food delivered to your room. We tried the tacos, they are not bad!
The bedding is very comfortable, I slept like a log.
In short, after a 15-hour trip, 24 hours without sleep, and then before getting back on a plane the next morning, I was really happy to have this practical solution for resting between the two :)
