Looking for an activity, GetYourGuide tracks it down in a single click!

The idea was born during a trip to Beijing among four friends who found themselves completely stumped when trying to figure out what to see or do in the city. Back in Zurich with their heads spinning with ideas and, above all, determined not to get caught in the same trap again or let other travelers face the same problem, they decided to create a platform bringing together the planet's best activities in one single place. That is how GetYourGuide was born, a worldwide booking site for activities and entrance tickets founded in 2009 in Germany by Tao Tao, Martin Sieber, Johannes Reck, and Tobias Rein.

A diverse activity catalog with multiple perks

This platform, which is strictly an intermediary between end customers (you) and providers (rental companies, guides, parks, museums, etc.), lets you book an endless variety of products: entrance tickets for sites or activities, guided tours (museums, historical sites, etc.), experiences spanning culture, food, nature, or sports, CityPasses for major cities, and excursions with transportation and a guide. In total, that means over 75,000 activities across more than 150 countries worldwide.

Finding something you will love is practically guaranteed in this vast, user-friendly catalog where you can search for different experiences based on your destination, interests, budget, and the duration of the activity you want.

As for target users, GetYourGuide primarily caters to travelers wanting to book one or more activities at their upcoming destination. Because of this premise, the platform appeals to virtually anyone, offering age-adjusted pricing for children, seniors, and students.

Savings, reliability, and customer support: key values.

Speaking of pricing, while GetYourGuide generally matches the official rates charged by providers, it does feature promotions in certain cases, alongside some very attractive bundle deals.

Other strong points for the brand include the ability to read reviews from previous travelers to get real-world feedback. Combine that with cancellation flexibility, allowing you to cancel all your activities free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled date and time. Plus, you get an efficient and responsive customer service team to handle any issues, along with the company's Android and iOS mobile app to make booking and getting into your activities seamless.

My travel must-have

It is very simple: I have never had a bad experience with GetYourGuide, and I always use it at least once on my trips. Whether it is for day trips or one-off activities, it is always solid and simple to use. I once had a provider in Poland who forgot about me, but the GetYourGuide customer service was available on a Sunday at 8:00 AM to call them and try to help me out. Honestly, for my part, I recommend them with my eyes closed!

Convenient but be careful

GetYourGuide is convenient to use when traveling abroad. You have access to all possible activities on one single site. Before booking, be careful to read between the lines. Some providers add extra fees without you even realizing it sometimes.

Super convenient

I have used GetYourGuide several times to book tours during trips abroad.
The site is convenient because you can easily find many types of activities with user ratings.
It is reliable and simple to use.
On the other hand, the prices are not necessarily better than elsewhere.
I also often use it to find activity ideas, without necessarily booking directly on the site.

Avoid at all costs

They sell activities for which you aren't given priority.
Scam.
Cancellation by the site 2 days before.
Watch out.

A comprehensive and very handy site

I use GetYourGuide often to book tours abroad (monuments in Rome, Universal Studios in Los Angeles, a boat ride in San Francisco...). The site is really comprehensive, and I always find tons of offers quickly. The prices are pretty good, even if I haven't noticed a huge difference compared to other platforms. You get the ticket easily with a QR code, and I have never run into any issues. The reviews also help you get a good idea of the quality of the activity beforehand.

It was better before...

When I started using GetYourGuide, the prices were so good! You could find real gems for peanuts during the off-season. Now, all the local tour operators are on GetYourGuide and the rates are pretty much the same.
When you click on an attractive offer, there is usually a catch, like extra fees. I advise you to look closely at the reviews and the fine print, but I still recommend it.

Guided tours with great guides

The prices for "stand-alone" tickets for museums or monuments are generally neutral, neither more expensive nor cheaper than tickets sold directly on-site.
The big advantage is being able to book guided tours with professional guides who teach you a huge amount of things.

Super convenient

A very complete selection for museums, monuments, excursions, and guided tours. An app where you can download e-tickets, and the option to cancel in quite a few cases (and you are warned when it is not possible, beforehand).

Interesting guided tour of Berlin

We used this site to book a walking tour of Berlin in English with a small group. Everything went pretty well overall, and the guide and the locations were interesting. The anecdotes and the explanations about the history of this city with such an unusual past really make a big difference compared to exploring on your own. A small downside, we didn't always understand the explanations in English, and it would have been annoying for the rest of the group to always have the guide repeat things.
