Horseshoe Bend

Where to stay in Page: the best neighbourhoods (2026)

Antelope Canyon requires booking a time slot in advance and touring exclusively with a Navajo guide. The Navajo Nation also does not observe daylight saving time, creating a one-hour time gap from March 8 to November 1 when compared to Page. When your alarm reads 8:00 AM back at your hotel, the clocks at the canyon already show 9:00 AM.

Logistics dictate where you book your stay here rather than any distinct neighborhood personality. A traveler in our community notes that the town proper lacks sightseeing altogether, as the three primary draws sit outside the limits: Horseshoe Bend sits at 5.9 kilometres, Antelope Canyon at 5 kilometres, and the lake at 9 kilometres. The four areas below are best evaluated by driving time.

Close to Antelope Canyon and within a few hours' drive of the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley, it makes a practical base for exploring the region's parks. The town itself does not offer much sightseeing, consisting mostly of hotels, strip malls, and chain restaurants. Keep a close eye on your watch when planning day trips, as time zones shift unpredictably between Page, Monument Valley, and the Navajo Nation.

Lake Powell Boulevard, the main drag Downtown, along the boulevard

Walking to dinner after a long drive

It is the only stretch in Page where you can manage a modest walk on foot. Lake Powell Boulevard lines up diners, storefronts, and the small Powell Museum, and a member in our community notes that the local diners stay open until 10 PM, which is a lifesaver when you roll in from a canyon after dark. The few independent spots in Page also sit on this street, sandwiched between a 1960s motel and a couple of guesthouses. The tradeoff is that you are 6 kilometers from Horseshoe Bend, which adds 2 kilometers compared to staying near the south exit.

Hyatt Place Page / Lake Powell Mid-range

A modern chain hotel located 1.1 kilometers from the center of the boulevard, featuring an outdoor pool and complimentary breakfast. It is among the newer properties in the downtown area.

The southern exit toward route 89 The southwest, right along the highway

The shortest drive out toward the canyons

This is not a neighborhood, it is a stretch of highway lined with hotels, and it serves one specific purpose: you hit the road before everyone else. From this spot, Horseshoe Bend is 3.9 kilometres away and the two entrances to Antelope Canyon are just over 6 kilometres away. This is territory dominated by modern chain properties, all much alike, featuring ample parking and early breakfast. The downside is clear: nothing is within walking distance here, and dinner requires getting back in the car.

Wahweap, right by the lake The north side, 9 kilometres away

The lake upon waking up, with the dock just below

Heading 9 kilometres north, the road leaves town and slopes down toward Lake Powell. This is the only place in the guide where you can sleep within sight of the water, around the Wahweap marina and the Glen Canyon Dam. People come here for boating and sunrise over the lake, not for proximity to the slot canyons, which sit on the opposite side. The drawback is measured in distance: 15 kilometres to reach Antelope Canyon, and nothing to eat outside the resort.

Where to stay in this area

Lake Powell Resort Mid-range

The Lake Powell Resort right at the marina, sitting right on the water. The operator also rents out houseboats, but those require multi-night stays, so it is not an option for a single overnight stop.

Wahweap RV & Campground Budget

The lakeside campground, open year-round, and you need to pay attention to which site you book since 139 sites have hookups for electricity and water while 148 have neither, including 36 tent-only sites.

Check availability

Pros

  • The only property in the guide overlooking the water
  • The marina and boat tours are right on site
  • The campground welcomes both tents and RVs

Cons

  • Antelope Canyon is 15 kilometres away in the opposite direction
  • Dining options are limited to the resort restaurant
  • A car is essential for everything else

Across the state line in Utah Utah, 17 kilometers away

The night that is the journey

Page has zero luxury lodging, and the only high-end spot in the entire area sits in a different state: Amangiri is in Utah, 17 kilometers away, tucked right against the base of the cliffs. People do not stay here to tour the canyons, but rather for the property itself, which completely shifts the focus of the trip since meals and transfers are included in the nightly rate. The catch is the price tag, which jumps to an entirely different tier, and the fact that you are leaving Arizona.

Where to stay in this area

Amangiri Luxury

An isolated hotel in Canyon Point, Utah, 17 kilometres from Page. The nightly rate includes meals, transfers, and activities, so the price does not compare to a standard room-only rate.

Check availability

Camp Sarika by Amangiri Luxury

Ten canvas pavilions, a five-minute drive from the main hotel, each with its own deck and plunge pool. This is luxury camping, not roughing it.

Check availability

Pros

  • The finest high-end stay in the entire region is right here
  • Meals and transfers are included in the nightly rate
  • A remote location right at the base of the cliffs

Cons

  • A price point that shifts to an entirely different scale
  • It is a different state, which means a different booking address
  • Antelope Canyon is 25 kilometres away by road

Our tips for booking the right place

  • The two hours of Page: Arizona does not observe daylight saving time, but the Navajo Nation does. From March 8 to November 1, a 1-hour time difference sits between your hotel and Antelope Canyon, which is on Navajo land. When it is 8:00 AM in your room, it is 9:00 AM at the canyon. Depending on the tour operator, your slot time might be listed in either time zone. The one question to ask when booking is therefore this, and you need to ask it before picking your hotel.
  • The mandatory guided tour, and the rain: The Navajo authority is clear. All sectors of Antelope Canyon are accessible only on a guided tour, and a guide is mandatory. No unguided walks are allowed, and slots sell out far in advance. A member of our community who did the 1-hour walk in the Upper Canyon recommends doing the 2-hour version instead, noting that otherwise the pace feels strictly timed down to the minute. She also warns that the canyon closes during bad weather, a real restriction since the Navajo authority itself announces potential closures.
  • Park entrance fees: Lodging in Page does not show nightly rates upfront. Out of the three I checked, an independent motel, a guesthouse, and the lake operator, none publish a rate sheet. Two expenses, however, are fixed and published. The Glen Canyon recreation area, which includes the lake and the dam, costs 30 USD per vehicle. The entry fee for Navajo land at Antelope Canyon is added to the cost of the guided tour. Budget for these on top of your room rate.
Where not to stay in Page (honestly)
  • Booking an Antelope Canyon time slot without asking which time zone it uses. From March 8 to November 1, Navajo land is 1 hour ahead of Page, and getting it wrong means missing your tour.
  • Choosing Wahweap thinking you are close to the canyons. The lake sits to the north, the canyons to the east, and 15 kilometres separate the two.
  • Reserving a campsite at Wahweap without checking which one. 148 of the 287 sites have neither electricity nor water.

FAQ: where to stay in Page

Where to stay in Page to visit Antelope Canyon?
On the south side if your tour is early. You hit the highway without driving through town, and both canyon entrances sit just over 6 kilometres away. On Lake Powell Boulevard if you prefer walking to dinner in the evening. The distance between the two counts in minutes, not comfort.
How much does a night in Page cost?
None of the verified properties publish a rate sheet, as chains use dynamic booking engines and the rare independent spots do the same. This lack of published rates tells you something, and it applies across the American Southwest. The two fixed amounts you can plan for are elsewhere: 30 USD per vehicle for the Glen Canyon area, and the Navajo permit fee that is added to the cost of visiting Antelope Canyon.
Do you need a car in Page?
Yes, absolutely. The three spots that draw visitors here are 4, 6, and 9 kilometres away, and only Lake Powell Boulevard is walkable. Antelope Canyon tour operators often pick up guests at their hotel, but that covers neither the lake nor Horseshoe Bend. This is the city guide where this question needs the least debate.
Can you stay right on Lake Powell?
Yes, at Wahweap, 9 kilometres north: it is the only area with views of the water, featuring a marina hotel and a campground open year-round. Just keep in mind that you are 15 kilometres away from the canyons, and dining options are limited to the resort.
How long should you stay in Page?
One night is enough to see Horseshoe Bend and one canyon, which is what a member in our community did. Two nights become useful if you want to add the lake, or if you prefer not to follow a canyon time slot with several hours of driving on the same day. The town itself requires no time, as there is nothing to visit there.
Is there luxury lodging in Page?
Not in town. The only luxury option in the area is Amangiri, located 17 kilometres away across the state line in Utah. Its nightly rate includes meals, transfers, and activities, making it a destination in its own right rather than a base for visiting the canyons. Nearby, its offshoot Camp Sarika features 10 canvas-roofed pavilions.
