This museum is really nice to visit. You learn a lot about the glassmakers of Murano, their traditions, and their ways of working with glass. It is very informative. The museum is quite small and the visit is quick. It is pleasant because there are not too many people, so you can take your time.

Small museum that is not too crowded and pleasant to visit. No wait, easy to get around without bumping into people. You can get through it in an hour. Some pretty glass pieces to see, and with the audio guide, you can learn quite a bit about the glassmaking techniques passed down from generation to generation in Murano (nearly 700 years of craftsmanship, after all!). My big disappointment is not having been able to watch a live glassblowing demonstration. I do not know if it is because the museum never offers them or if it is because I stopped by at the wrong time?

People don't always realize it, but there is an art museum inside the Santa Maria della Salute church. This museum contains several masterpieces by great Venetian and Italian masters, such as Titian or Veronese. A must-see if you enjoy this type of painting.

Visiting a scuola is worth the trip. Actually, you will find several in Venice, so you have plenty of options. Some are so large that you cannot admire their painted ceilings without waking up the next day with a sharp pain in your neck (I am being serious). Fortunately, those responsible for these scuole are aware of this problem, and they offer visitors the chance to borrow a mirror for the duration of their visit... Someone had to think of that!

Peggy Guggenheim was a pioneer in her own right. I do not know anyone who, in that era, had the initiative for such a museum. If you are passing through Venice, do not leave without setting foot in there. You will admire works from Cubism, as well as Futurist, abstract, or surrealist pieces. You will admire Magritte, Picasso, Dalí, Léger, Miró, Mondrian, Ernst, Calder, Kandinsky, and many others! It would be a great place to visit as a family, but Venice just isn't made for traveling with kids...
