A masterpiece of Austrian Baroque architecture, the Belvedere Palace is a highlight of Vienna. This former summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy, built in the 18th century, is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Today, the Upper Belvedere houses 400 works from the 19th and 20th centuries, including 24 paintings by Gustav Klimt.
The Museum of Art History in Vienna, or Kunsthistorisches Museum, stands as a premier cultural site. Opened in 1891 by Emperor Franz Joseph to house the Habsburg family collections, it features Italian Renaissance architecture. Explore five millennia of art, from Egyptian and Greek antiquities to 18th-century masterpieces by Raphael, Vermeer, and Bruegel.
The Sisi Museum, located in the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, offers a close look at the life of Empress Elisabeth, known as Sisi. Through personal items, elaborate dresses, and handwritten letters, you will uncover a complex woman who sought freedom while resisting court life. Explore her tragic history, ending with her 1898 assassination.
The Leopold Museum in Vienna, located in the MuseumsQuartier (Museum Quarter), holds the world's largest collection of Egon Schiele works, alongside paintings by Gustav Klimt. Since opening in 2001, this bright, modern space has traced the evolution of the Vienna Secession and Expressionism, offering great city views from its light-filled galleries.
Located in the imperial wing of the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, the Austrian National Library is an 18th-century baroque masterpiece. Famous for its spectacular State Hall filled with frescoes and statues, it holds thousands of rare books and precious manuscripts. Its architectural and historical significance makes it a key cultural stop in the Austrian capital.

It is true that the building itself, a sort of big block, is not exactly inviting. However, the exhibited collections are really worth the visit. There are notably many works by Klimt, and an entire room is dedicated to him. I recommend this museum to discover Austrian art.

A moving museum
Fascinating and moving to find yourself in Freud's family home. It is also a museum dedicated to psychoanalysis in general. A really great time.
Absolutely magnificent... as much for the old books as for the state hall, a little jewel.

The visit to the library is pretty quick. The ceiling decor is impressive, with sublime frescoes. I recommend going early in the morning and outside of school holidays so you can really enjoy the place, because it gets crowded fast. For me, it is a must-see.

Located in the heart of the Hofburg, this huge baroque library still has me dreaming! Ancient books, organized from floor to ceiling, are displayed on magnificent wooden shelves. A gigantic room, richly decorated, with a dizzying ceiling height. It is beautiful and very impressive! The visit goes by quickly, I highly recommend it.
The library also features lovely statues, notably the very glorious one of Charles VI, and a sublime fresco on the dome. A small brochure at the entrance helped me better understand the history of the place. Not to be missed!

I found the museum very interesting. It explains who Sisi really was and her evolution throughout her life. Far from the romanticized vision, you understand who the empress actually was. Thanks to the letters on display, you get a sense of her personality. The tour is rich but quite short. I recommend it, especially if you are interested in Sisi. Otherwise, you might get bored.

While the architecture of the Belvedere is truly sublime, what you will see inside is even more so. The palace houses an impressive collection of works by Gustav Klimt, including the famous Kiss. Plus, you will be able to discover paintings by Monet or even Van Gogh. I recommend this visit to all art lovers. You could stay there for several hours without seeing the time pass. I really loved it.

The impressive white cube houses a spacious and bright area that is particularly pleasant to visit. Within the rich collection of paintings, I really loved the room dedicated to Klimt, which notably displays the masterpiece Death and Life. This space also sheds light on the artist's life thanks to biographical elements and a beautiful reconstruction of his studio. Furthermore, the museum presents a very interesting theme around Vienna 1900, which is a gold mine of information on the evolution of Austrian art.

Visiting the charming Sisi Museum pulled me into the private life of the Empress of Austria. Thanks to letters, portraits, and many personal effects, including dresses and fans, the museum paints a touching portrait of a lonely young woman who was unpopular and a prisoner of court rules. With a very well-done layout, the visit changed how I see the Sisi myth, an empress who took refuge in her poems, her travels, and her probably unhealthy obsession with being thin.
