Breathe underwater without a heavy tank right from the pier
A raft floats on the surface, a hose runs down from it, and air feeds straight into the regulator in your mouth. No scuba tank to strap on, no buoyancy compensator to adjust, and zero certifications required.
Why try snuba in Philipsburg?
The activity bridges the exact gap between snorkeling and traditional scuba diving. You descend to 3 to 6 meters (about 10 to 20 feet) and stay down there instead of popping back up to breathe every twenty seconds. The bay makes it easy with shallow sandy bottoms, mild currents, and warm water year-round.
Guides stay with you the entire time, and participation is open to anyone 8 years and older without needing a dive card. If someone in your party prefers to stay on the surface, they can join the same trip as a snorkeler or boat rider so mixed groups never have to split up.
How the trip works
Departure
Trips leave from Bobby's Marina on Juancho Yrausquin Boulevard, a five-minute walk from Front Street. Exact meeting instructions are confirmed when you book.
Time in the water
Expect 45 minutes underwater, with roughly two hours total covering check-in, the safety briefing, and practicing with the gear on the surface. All equipment is provided, but bring a swimsuit, a towel, and reef-safe sunscreen.
Who runs the operation
Opened in 2016 by Michel and Kelly Wouterse following years of professional diving and snuba work. Groups stay small on purpose, and an instructor accompanies participants underwater from start to finish.
Great for:
- First-time underwater breathing without a scuba certification
- Families with kids starting at age 8
- Cruise ship stops since two hours is all you need
- Mixed groups where some dive and others snorkel
Not recommended for:
- Certified divers looking for deep water
- Anyone chasing shipwrecks or deep drop-offs
- Rough water days
Local tip: Book a morning departure. The trade winds pick up later in the day, so the calmer morning water translates directly to better visibility.
Opening hours
Tours are by reservation only and must be booked directly through the operator's website. Exact departure times and meeting points are confirmed upon booking.
How long for this activity
Plan for about two hours overall, including 45 minutes underwater.
