Where to stay near Stade de France: the 3 areas to know in 2026
The Stade de France belongs to no club: its 80,698 seats, the most numerous in the country, only open for international fixtures, finals and concerts. One of our members draws the conclusion nobody writes down: the crowd here is family-minded and good-natured, because there are no season-ticket holders meeting up every other week. So you do not come here out of habit, you come for a date.
That changes the choice of hotel. For a single evening, the question is not settling into a neighbourhood, it is knowing how you get back, and what you do with the next morning. Three answers present themselves: the stands on foot, the centre of Saint-Denis with its royal basilica 2.3 kilometres away, or Paris at the end of the RER.

The two ways to stay near Stade de France
For a single evening, everything turns on the way back and on the next morning. Here are the two extremes of this page.
| What changes | In Saint-Denis | In Paris |
|---|---|---|
| After the show | On foot, or one metro stop | An RER, direct but packed |
| The price of the night | That of a business suburb | That of the Latin Quarter |
| The next morning | The market and the kings' necropolis | All of Paris, on foot from the hotel |
| With children | Less walking, and a car park | One more ride, but parks |
| Arriving by plane | 22.6 kilometres from Roissy | The RER B links the airport to the centre |
| Parking | One hotel announces free parking | Pointless: everything runs on transport |
| The choice of hotels | Five addresses, mostly chains | The whole city, and the best scores |
| Who for | Anyone here for the match or the concert | Anyone taking the chance to see Paris |
How long to the entrance, area by area?
The distances follow the road from the stands. But it is the rail that counts here: two RER lines, one metro, and a line 14 station 2 kilometres away.
| From | Time | How |
|---|---|---|
| La Plaine, at the foot of the stands | on foot | walking From 200 metres to 10 minutes on foot, depending on the house. |
| Porte de Paris and the basilica | 500 m | walking or line 13 The metro runs in front of the hotels and goes down into Paris. |
| Paris, at the end of the RER | 6.9 km | RER B or RER D The two lines cross at the Gare du Nord and at Châtelet-Les Halles. |

La Plaine, at the foot of the stands South of the ground, around the RER B station
Anyone walking back the moment the show ends
Between the stadium and the ring road stretches a district of converted warehouses, company headquarters and chain hotels, crossed by the RER B. Nothing here appeals to a stroller, and nobody pretends otherwise: you sleep here to have only one street to walk up when 80,698 people are all looking for a train at the same time. The three houses of this sector announce between 200 metres and 10 minutes on foot, one with free parking, another with two-room suites. What our members write about the surroundings of the stadium concerns precisely these streets, and it is not kind.
It is not a good idea to hang around the area near the stadium
Where to stay in this area
Novotel Suites Paris Stade de France Mid-range
The best score of the sector, over twelve hundred stays and more, and rooms in suites. The welcome collects the frankest praise here.
ibis Saint-Denis Stade Ouest Budget
On rue Jules Saulnier, 200 metres from the ground: nobody is closer in this guide. Its parking is free, which counts on an evening when the whole district is hunting for a space.
Ibis Styles Paris Saint Denis La Plaine Budget
On avenue du Président Wilson, with suites of two connecting rooms for a family. Its score is the lowest of these three areas, and breakfast is what travellers remember best.
Pros
- The walk back, with no train or metro
- Free parking at one address out of three
- Suites for a whole family
Cons
- A district of warehouses and offices
- Surroundings our members judge harshly
Porte de Paris and the basilica 500 metres from the ground, on metro line 13
Anyone who wants a town around the hotel, and the kings' necropolis
Here the real town begins, the one with 149,077 inhabitants: an old centre, a market 1.4 kilometres away known across the whole region, and the basilica where the kings of France are buried, 2.3 kilometres off. Metro line 13 runs at the foot of the hotels and goes down into Paris, the stadium is reached on foot, and you pay suburban rates, not those of a capital. This is the compromise of the page: almost as close as La Plaine, with something to see the next morning.
Where to stay in this area
Novotel Paris Saint Denis Stade Basilique Mid-range
On place de la Porte de Paris, 500 metres from the stands, with the line 13 station in front of the door. Twenty-one hundred reviewed stays and more, and travellers mention the market and the basilica.
B&B HOTEL Saint-Denis Porte de Paris Budget
On avenue du Docteur Lamaze, and forty-four hundred reviewed stays or more: nothing is booked as much in these three areas, nor billed as low in the sector.
Pros
- The market and the royal basilica for the next day
- Line 13 at the foot of the hotel
- Suburban rates, not capital city ones
Cons
- Only two addresses, one of them very plain
- Not a single capital city night out
Paris, at the end of the RER 6.9 kilometres from the Gare du Nord, on the RER B
Anyone making the concert the pretext for a weekend in Paris
Two RER lines serve the ground and both cross Paris: the B and the D meet at the Gare du Nord, then at Châtelet-Les Halles. Sleeping on this line, rather than near the stadium, means choosing the city for the trip and the train for the show. The three houses below occupy the fifth arrondissement, a few metres from the Saint-Michel station served by the RER B: almost perfect location scores, Latin Quarter streets, and a direct run to the stands. The extra on the rate is made back in days of sightseeing.
The stadium is easy to get to by public transportation

Our tips for booking the right place
- Two RER lines, two station names: check yours: The RER B stops at La Plaine-Stade de France, south of the ground; the RER D at Stade de France-Saint-Denis, to the north. The two names look alike, the two stations frame the ground, and they do not lead to the same gates. Add to that metro line 13, which serves the centre of Saint-Denis, and line 14 at the Saint-Denis Pleyel station, which asks for 20 minutes of walking. Our members sum it up: the stadium is easy to reach by public transport, provided you know which way you get back.
- What our members say about the surroundings, and what to do with it: The reviews contradict each other on this point, and they should be read before booking. On our pages you can read that it is not a good idea to hang around the area near the stadium and that the author rushes home; another member advises against coming with very young children, because of crowd surges. That should not make you give up, it should make you choose: sleeping 200 metres away avoids waiting in the crowd, and sleeping in Paris avoids the whole district. The worst choice would be to park far away and walk back in the dark.
- High up you cannot see much: the seat counts more than the hotel: One of our members, who has come several times for rugby and concerts, warns that from high up you really cannot see much, and that you need good seats to enjoy the place; fortunately, she says, there are big screens. Another adds that the stands are far from the pitch, a mechanism allowing the athletics track to be covered in football configuration, and that the very airy roof lets the sound escape. So put your budget into the ticket before you put it into the room.
- Choosing La Plaine while hoping for a lively district: these are offices and warehouses, and our members judge them without indulgence.
- Getting the wrong station: the RER B and the RER D carry two similar names for two stops that frame the ground.
- Booking a seat right at the top to save money: one of our members warns that you really cannot see much from there.
