Parc des Princes

Where to stay near Parc des Princes: the 3 areas to know in 2026

The Parc des Princes does not sit on the edge of Paris: it is built above the ring road, whose lanes run underneath the stands, and its south stand carries the name of the town facing it, Boulogne-Billancourt. Leaving the 47,929 seats, you therefore have two towns in front of you, and the evening question is not how many kilometres to cover: it is which side of the gate you booked.

Second thing, which our members say better than a guide: people come here without a match. They describe the backstage tour, pitch, changing rooms, treatment rooms and the corridor retracing the history of the shirts, and one of them played an escape game inside. So this page answers two trips, the one of a league evening and the one of a Tuesday afternoon.

The two ways to stay near Parc des Princes

The stadium sits on a boundary: the gate on one side, the city on the other. Here is what each side gives and what it takes away.

What changes At the gate, Auteuil or Boulogne In Paris, on line 9
Getting back On foot, in seven to fifteen minutes Eighteen stations, no change
Dinner after the match Tables in Boulogne, nothing in Auteuil Open like the rest of the city
The price of the night That of a district without tourists That of the centre of the capital
The next day Molitor, Roland-Garros, the woods, Albert-Kahn The museums, the theatres, the monuments
Arriving by train 6.8 kilometres from Montparnasse The stations are inside the city
With children The woods and its gardens a step away A metro ride for every outing
Touring the stadium on a day without a match You walk there, at the hour you like As for a match, by line 9
Who for Anyone here for the Parc des Princes Anyone here for Paris, match included

How long to the entrance, area by area?

The distances start at the stadium gates. The metro fears neither the ring road nor the filtered surroundings: it is what decides, not the mileage.

From Time How
Auteuil, the Paris side of the gate on foot walking
The three addresses announce seven to fifteen minutes to the ground.
Boulogne-Billancourt, on the other side of the ring road 1.4 km walking or metro
Through the gate you change town; the metro counts three stations there before its terminus.
Metro line 9, from the gate to the Grands Boulevards 8.9 km metro line 9
Eighteen stations between Porte de Saint-Cloud and the Grands Boulevards.

Auteuil, the Paris side of the gate Paris 16th, from Porte de Saint-Cloud to Porte Molitor

Anyone who wants to walk home without leaving Paris

The sixteenth arrondissement ends here in wide, lived-in streets, and the three addresses of this area are counted in minutes of walking from the stadium gates. Nobody dines late here: the district has neither a supporters' bar nor a lively street, and that is exactly what you come for when the match finishes late. By day it offers what no other stadium district has: the Molitor swimming pool 900 metres away, the Roland-Garros courts 1.2 kilometres off and the Bois de Boulogne on the far side of the avenue. On match nights, though, the surroundings are filtered and dense, and one of our members does not find them reassuring.

The area around the Parc des Princes is not very reassuring

  • The Molitor pool and Roland-Garros next door

Cons

2

Boulogne-Billancourt, on the other side of the ring road 1.4 kilometres away, once through the gate

Anyone who wants the same walk and a town open in the evening

Going through the gate changes département and town: the centre of Boulogne-Billancourt is 1.4 kilometres from the stands, and its hotels are reached on foot in about ten minutes, just like those of the sixteenth. The difference lies elsewhere. This town of 108,782 people has shopping streets, tables open after the final whistle, and two visits that have nothing to do with football: the gardens of the Albert-Kahn museum 2.5 kilometres away and the auditorium of La Seine Musicale, on the Île Seguin, 3.7 kilometres off. One of our members makes a whole day of it.

It is a very pleasant city for a day trip outside of Paris

Metro line 9, from the gate to the Grands Boulevards Eighteen stations, no change

Anyone here for Paris, taking the match along the way

A single metro line serves the stadium and then crosses Paris from west to east: line 9. From Porte de Saint-Cloud it reaches Trocadéro in eight stations, the Champs-Élysées in eleven, the department stores in fifteen and the Grands Boulevards in eighteen, without ever changing platform. Sleeping on this line therefore settles the way back from the match at any hour, and leaves the days to the city rather than to its gate. What it costs, one of our members says plainly: the capital is getting dearer, and a night in the centre does not compare with a night in Boulogne.

these trips are starting to get expensive, as the capital is more and more costly

Our tips for booking the right place

  • Your gate depends on your stand, and there are sixteen of them: The stadium has four stands, Paris, Francis Borelli, Auteuil to the north and Boulogne to the south, and sixteen gates lettered A to P shared between them. Look at the letter on your ticket before choosing your metro exit: line 9 arrives at Porte de Saint-Cloud, line 10 at Porte d'Auteuil, and the two do not open onto the same gates. The surroundings are filtered on match days and the gates open two hours before kick-off, which leaves time to walk around the ground, but not to cross the crowd at the last moment.
  • The stadium can be toured, and that is what our members talk about most: The tour lasts 1 hr 10, costs $32* for an adult, leads to the trophy wall and an exhibition, with an audio guide in nine languages. Our members saw the pitch, the changing rooms, the treatment rooms and the corridor retracing the history of the shirts; another played an escape game there, cups and a turn through the stands included. And in summer a zip line crosses the pitch from one side of the Auteuil stand to the other, for $17* on top of the ticket. It is a full day out in Paris, not an annexe of the match.
  • A car is useless, a bike is not: The stadium sits above the ring road and the Boulogne exit leads to it, but the surroundings close on match days: the car is the worst of the three choices on this page. The bike, on the other hand, has its guarded parking on place du Général Stefanik, near the Paris stand, open from two hours before kick-off until one hour after the final whistle, scooters and skateboards included. From Auteuil or Boulogne, it is the fastest way to arrive and to leave.
Where not to stay near Parc des Princes
  • Looking for a late dinner in Auteuil: the district is residential, and it is in Boulogne or in the centre that people eat after a match.
  • Coming by car on a match night: the surroundings are filtered, and the stadium straddles the ring road rather than bordering it.
  • Booking behind a goal hoping to see the game close up: our members find those stands far from the pitch, and visibility suffers.

FAQ: where to stay near Parc des Princes

Is it better to sleep in Auteuil, in Boulogne or in Paris?
All three hold up, and the criterion is not distance: Auteuil and Boulogne both put the stands about ten minutes' walk away. Auteuil is a residential district that falls silent after the match; Boulogne, on the other side of the ring road, has a shopping centre and tables open late; line 9 puts the whole city within reach with no change, at the price of the capital.
How do you reach the stadium without a car?
By metro line 9 at Porte de Saint-Cloud or line 10 at Porte d'Auteuil, and by buses 22, 62 and 72 on one side, 32 and 52 on the other. Bikes have guarded parking on place du Général Stefanik, near the Paris stand. The gates open two hours before kick-off, and the surroundings are filtered on match days.
Can the Parc des Princes be toured?
Yes, and it is what our members talk about most. The tour lasts 1 hr 10, costs $32* for an adult and shows the pitch, the changing rooms, the treatment rooms and the shirt corridor, with an audio guide in nine languages. One of our members came for an escape game, another for a professional convention, and both write about it without having watched a single match.
What is the Parc des Princes today?
A ground of 47,929 seats in league configuration, inaugurated in 1972 to designs by Roger Taillibert, and built partly above the ring road. Its 52 concrete portals and its 48-metre cantilever mean no pillar blocks the view. Our members confirm the sound, the shape of the stands and the roof making the noise resonate, and add a reservation about distance: the ends look far from the pitch to them.
What is there to do around, apart from the match?
The Molitor pool is 900 metres away, the Roland-Garros courts 1.2 kilometres off, and the Bois de Boulogne begins at the end of the avenue. On the Boulogne-Billancourt side, the gardens of the Albert-Kahn museum are 2.5 kilometres away and La Seine Musicale 3.7. The Eiffel Tower is 5 kilometres off. Our guides to where to stay in Paris and in Boulogne-Billancourt go into the detail of the neighbourhoods, and this page does without.
How do you get to the Parc des Princes from a station or an airport?
Montparnasse station is 6.8 kilometres from the stadium and the Gare du Nord 11.1; Orly airport is 18 kilometres away, Roissy 33.4. From any of these points the metro does better than a car, and line 9 remains the thread of the evening: it is the line that serves the ground.
