Visiting Lalaria Beach

In the Sporades archipelago, Skiathos features a coastline of about sixty beaches, an impressive count for an island spanning 18.5 square miles. Each spot has its own distinct vibe, but Lalaria Beach stands out for its raw, isolated nature. Accessible only by boat, its rugged beauty contrasts sharply with the surrounding greenery, creating the unique character that draws visitors here.

Cliffs forming a natural stone arch

Skiathos is known for its lush vegetation and dense pine forests. Lalaria Beach breaks this pattern, as the towering cliffs are the real main attraction. The bay is not made of soft sand, but of small, brilliant white pebbles with blue-gray undertones that harmonize with the imposing rock face and the sea. In this shimmering scene, the lack of development is what makes it special. There are no lounge chairs or snack bars on the beach, so nature dictates the pace and ensures a sense of calm. During the summer, the shore is quite popular, but the scenery remains striking. The cliff extends into the water, and its erosion has formed a natural stone arch. Legend has it that swimming through this arch grants eternal love, and it remains one of the most photographed sights at Lalaria.

Fascinating sea caves

The bay is marked by small cavities carved into the rock face, and further along, there are true sea caves that draw boat tours. The Galazia cave, also known as the Blue Cave, has a distinct appeal because of the light reflecting off the water, creating a mesmerizing glow. The Skopili cave is darker and narrower, making it challenging to enter, so only experienced swimmers should attempt to go inside. For the best experience and safety, it is highly recommended to visit these caves by boat.

The pearl of Skiathos

Stunning postcard scenery for this beach that mixes the turquoise sea with the different colors of the pebbles, rocks, and cliffs.

Really beautiful pebble beach

Surrounded by cliffs, Lalaria is only accessible by boat. Don't go thinking it isn't crowded! It is very famous on the island of Skiathos and you have to get there early if you want to pick your spot. Because of the cliffs, some areas stay in the shade longer.
I had read that little beach shoes would help you walk on the stones and rocks that are a bit sharp in some places. It is a good idea!
The setting and the water are stunning!!
