Les Hauts de Beauval: An African-inspired escape near the zoo
Les Hauts de Beauval, managed by the Delord family, who also own the Zoo de Beauval, offers a distinct change of pace. Opened in 2018, this 3-star hotel draws heavy inspiration from Africa in both its architecture and decor, resulting in an environment that feels warm and intentionally thematic.
An immersive African aesthetic
The property sets itself apart with its African-inspired design, featuring timber structures that echo traditional lodges and thatched roofing. The interior design blends natural materials with handcrafted goods to ground the experience in the continent. Common areas like the restaurant and bar are decorated with ethnic patterns and sculptures to further the theme.
Family rooms for 1 to 5 guests
Les Hauts de Beauval has 124 rooms, all decorated in the same African style with views of the surrounding gardens or green spaces. There are three main categories:
-
Double or Twin Room: Designed for 1 to 2 people, this includes one double bed or two singles, a desk area, and a bathroom with a shower.
-
Triple Room: Suited for 3 people, it features a double bed or two singles, plus a daybed.
-
Quintuple Room: Capable of hosting up to 5 people, it comes with a double bed or two singles, bunk beds (the top bunk is strictly for children over 6 years old), and a trundle bed.
A crib can be added to your room upon request.
Dining, drinks, and kids' play areas
The hotel restaurant, Masaï Mara, serves a mix of African and international flavors as an all-you-can-eat buffet for breakfast (included with your stay) and dinner (around 30 EUR, or about $33). The bar, Le Cap, provides a relaxed space for cocktails and refreshments. Both the bar and restaurant feature a terrace that opens up when the weather is warm.
A playground is also on site for children, giving families some extra room to burn off energy during their stay.
A prime location for regional exploration
Located just a 5-minute drive from the ZooParc de Beauval, the hotel provides easy access to one of the area's top attractions. Visitors can also use this as a base to explore the Loire Valley castles, local vineyards, and nearby villages.

Like the Jedi Master says, it is a bit of a walk from Zoo de Beauval (by car, the trip only takes a few minutes).
I really like the safari vibe in this hotel. The kids feel like they are actually there, so I would definitely recommend it for families.
