What to know about Voyage Privé: luxury travel within reach
Everyone knew vente-privee.com, but who would have guessed a site called "Voyage Privé" would one day apply exactly the same concept to travel: luxury stays and vacations at slashed prices, available for a limited window of 7 days, on the flash-sale model.
Up to 70% off
A group of French entrepreneurs took the bet and launched the first private travel sales website in May 2006. Challenge met: this upscale travel seller now runs flash sales with discounts of up to 70% on stays, cruises, weekend getaways, vacation clubs, amusement parks, thalasso packages, round-the-world tours, and more, for more than 56 million members.
The headline promise behind that success: go on an all-inclusive vacation without breaking the bank.
Signing up is free, and it unlocks the deals
To get at deals this tempting, there is just one condition: sign up for free as a privileged member of the Voyage Privé club.
Given what you get in return, there is little reason to skip it. The millions of members already signed up would agree: steep discounts on luxury vacations that would otherwise be out of reach, a quality catalog with high-end hotels, and a bigger selection than the competition offers.
The catch: you have to be decisive
Unfortunately, luxury comes with a trade-off. You have to decide fast and stick with your choice, because offers last only 7 days, trips are non-refundable, and for bookings that include a flight, you only learn the details of your flight 5 days before departure.
Those drawbacks can be a little nerve-racking. But with revenue still growing and no fewer than 1,200 employees, the formula has clearly found its audience.
I had the chance to book my vacation with Voyage Privé once, and everything went really well. There are tons of offers available, though some are more interesting than others. You shouldn't hesitate to keep an eye on the offers, which change every day. The downside is that it can take some time to find the right deal, but it also allows for some great savings.
